I got my exam results back... They were actually better than I expected! Hist: 80% (I was dreading this due to the lack of study I did) Lit: 81% (dreading this too, but yay!) Geom and trig: 84% (turns out that besides those I really couldn't do and a few careless mistakes, I didn't lose much) Physics: 86% (WOOHOO). Prac: 39.5/50 Intro calc: 95% (O.O) Chem: 97% (OOOOO.OOOOOO). Prac: 40/40 A heap of surprises really. Got geom and trig back first. I tied for 2nd... Missed the top mark by 0.3%! So technically, I did get the top mark... When the teacher chucked my paper on the desk, I made a huge disbelieving sound that made her think that I thought it was a crap mark. And I was like 'no, I never expected it to be that good'. HAHA. Physics... Let's just say I knew I craped up a heap of questions. So I was really happy with my mark, though my overall was only 82%. The evil dwarf made us think that all of us failed. He talked about how crap our essays were because they lacked in detail, and went into how we must always put detail to get high marks. Then he told us the average was only 60%. Everyone freaked out, including me, because I know I didn't study. I think I got the top mark. Though the exam was only worth 10%. Wth... If the whole year were based on exams, I would have gotten the hist prize. Gah. The old hag turned out to be really nice, bring chocolate biscuits for us today. I really should stop calling her 'old hag' because she's a really gd teacher, and she actually is quite nice. Anyway, I actually got 24/25 for my prose essay!!! Top mark for that ques. Screwed drama up. Got 17/25. Poetry was fine, 20/25. Strange. I got the same mark as sem 1. Intro calc was a pleasant surprise. I remembered walking out of the exam room going 'oh shit. That was hell'. Our teacher, once again, made us all feel like we failed, telling us it was so bad that they had to scale the marks (ie: change the standard deviation because some people did really badly). He was like, oh, but 3 people lost less than 10 marks. Top mark was 145/150. We all knew who it was anyway... Same kid who gets full marks on every single test. Then he said this other kid lost just 8 marks, and then he said that I lost 9 marks. I was like wth?! Anyway, it's nice knowing I came 3rd for the exam :). We got kicked out of our old chem room by some younger ignorant people. Humph. How rude. Anyway, chem was scaled up as well because people did really badly. They just gave everyone 5 extra marks (percentage wise). So our teacher was like going through what she wrote on the front page and went 'oh, I'll just pick a random exam paper'. Wasn't that random. She picked the one that got 97%. Because I sat in the front row, I was like 'holy crap, some assh*le got 97%?!'. Then I saw the student number and went 'wait... that looks familiar'. Then I saw my name. GAH. I shouldn't curse myself so often. So I topped chem! And I'm probably getting the chem prize. Not that I care. I told my mum happily that I probably was getting the chem prize, and she went 'only one prize?'. Great. That just shows the amount of frigging support she gives me. If she doesn't even bother helping me, why start putting me down? My seemingly good grades are never worthy of over-dinner conversations. My brother's ORDINARY DAY of which video store he went to rent his videos is more important than the fact that I basically aced all my exams, coming top 3 in all subjects except lit and physics. But no, it doesn't matter at all. I wonder why I even give a sh*t. Maybe I just wanna beat my brother and laugh my a*s off when I do? I know that I can't ever win this battle anyway... They'll just say I had more time to 'settle down'. Yeah, and get more depressed from this sh*t? This is probably the millionth time I'm saying this, but I hate my family. I hate it so much that my head hurts and my eyes swim with tears and I don't know what to do or say. Everything I do is never good enough. My mum didn't say a single word of 'well done' or even anything along those lines to suggest that she even registered the fact that I got such good grades. They don't give a frigging sh*t about me anyway. All they think of me is some kind of walking certificate that certifies that their parenting has been great. Now I just feel like getting all my exams back and tearing them into pieces because I know no one gives a sh*t about them anyway. But no, I'll just plaster another huge fake smile over my face tomorrow morning and everything will be fine again. 9:18 PM Saturday, November 24, 2007 Yes, I got facebook. Anyway, I'm getting bored of it. After one day. HAHA. Spent yesterday afternoon in a one-on-one mother-daughter grocery/gift-shopping (don't you just love using hyphens/dashes?) session. Utterly boring and contrived. One of the workers at my mum's shop's having her birthday 2 days after mine, and she's been hinting for a birthday present. So my mum dragged me out shopping for one in a post-exam trip. I got pissed off after my mum said that she'd buy me a present so that she'd have something to tell that kid when she asked. So the whole point of getting me a gift was so that she could 'prove' herself to be a nice, caring parent who gave a crap about her kid's birthday. Right. Not that she remembered to buy me one anyway. She also said that it was unnecessary to buy me a present because I use her money to buy stuff anyway. Excuse me?! I only bought my mp3 player because I won $200 from that Maths competition. She probably thought I was splurging her money, from her 'so expensive?' attitude towards it when she found out. One of the reasons I don't go shopping (besides the fact I think it's useless and masochistic) is because I don't have the financial means, and I feel bad spending her hard-earned money. To assert that I do so when I don't is totally unjustified. I didn't bother to correct her. She'd just think of a hundred other rebuttals, and I really can't stand it. Which is why I wanna move out once I get to uni. I almost hate my family. It sounds mean, yes. But what would you do if you have been living under the same roof as 3 other strangers all your life? 3 other humanoids who don't understand you and wouldn't give a sh*t about how you feel? My dad's been suggesting all sorts of birthday trips for me, none of which I like. Fishing, driving around the 'country-side', going to the beach. He doesn't even know what I like. I think if I suggested that I'd rather go to a bookstore/curl up and read a book all day, he'd think I was mad. The fact is that he doesn't understand me at all, and doesn't really try to. The times when I sit in the car after he's picked me up and pretend to be asleep to avoid the contrived conversations. Other times when I just nod and hmm my way through them. I don't reckon I'll miss them too much if I go overseas to study. What would really keep me here is Maisy, whom I can't bear to leave. I know that she'll probably forget me after I've been gone for about 5 years, but that doesn't mean I'll forget her. This is why I think birthdays are insignificant and pointless. And why I envy kids who have parents who bother spending days and weeks thinking and scouting around for the perfect gift, for the perfect birthday for their child. I envy kids whose parents don't just think of them as living testimonies for their self-worth, as pieces of paper with numbers scrawled on them, as graduates of God-knows-which high-ranking uni, or as a high-profile multi-millionaires. And I envy those kids whose parents love them despite how badly they might do in an exam, or what they choose as their future vocation. But then I remember that I'm luckier than 75% of the people in the world because I have a roof over my head, and food on the table, and probably an IQ higher than the average person. And then I don't know whether to think I'm lucky or not. 2:57 PM Wednesday, November 21, 2007 The exams are officially... OVER, OVER, OVER! NEVER TO RETURN, THE EVIL BAST*RDS! Ok, that's abit of an over-reaction. Anyway, the point is that I've officially finished (and passed all subjects, except physics) year 11! I know I've passed because my mark for the rest of the year adds up to more than 50% overall already, except for physics, because the frigging exam was worth 50%. In retrospect, let's see what could have been improved for the exams... 1: Not swear in front of invigilator. I figured how to do that )*&(*^^*% maths question (which was worth TEN marks), when the dear invigilator went 'time's up'. I, presumably, swore. Unfortunately, I was seated right infront of her and she was glaring at me as a consequence. Fortunately I did manage to scribble my working down, though I didn't have time to work them out on my calculator. 2: Get larger desks. My shoulders are ACHING from hunching over my exam paper for about 3 hours each day. For God's sake, GET LARGER DESKS! We pay more than $10000 (yes, that's right) for our school fees. Surely we deserve larger desks than the PRIMARY SCHOOL ONES?! I didn't even have space to put everything on the frigging desk! 3: Actually start revision earlier. I only started history yesterday, and the exam -surprise surprise- was today. I don't think I did very well... Actually, all my exam revision was started on the eve of the actual exam for half of my subjects, namely chem, geom and trig and hist. 4: Stop staring at invigilators. I don't know how many precious minutes I spent staring at invigilators due to intense boredom. Some of them saw me (in particular, today's invigilator who was my intro calc teacher) staring at them, and glared back. Bah. 5: Just do better in all of them. Haha. I DON'T GIVE A CRAP ANYWAY! IT'S OVER! In reply to Jiaying and Irene's comments on my dismal piano mark... It IS dismal. I failed sight-reading utterly miserably. Here's the breakdown of marks. 25/30 for the Bach 23/30 for the Mozart 24/30 for the Chopin 18/21 for the Scales 11/21 (yes, 11/21) for sight-reading 14/18 for the aurals I actually passed aurals! And pretty well too! I expected way worse than that. Sight-reading was really expected. Anyway, sight-reading cost me my merit, which is quite a pity... Gaby thought the examiner was a bit stingy on the pieces. She didn't say that outright, but from my excellent inference skills honed in the many history lessons I missed, I'm guessing she feels that way. And she thought the examiner was highly proficient in her (examiner's) own brand of English. The examiner used words like 'buoyancy' and 'characterful' (which does NOT exist in the English language) in virtually all the exam remarks, according to Gaby. Quite amusing really. School ends next Friday! Yes!!! There isn't any more work to be done except the returning of exam scripts on Monday. Aka my impending doom. *sigh* 8:57 PM Tuesday, November 20, 2007 ONE MORE DAY! And 6 more to my impending doom, when my exams come back. Bah. 4:18 PM Wednesday, November 14, 2007 I think I might just do history next year, given how I'm almost guaranteed a good mark in it, unlike piano. Which I do dismally in. Got my results back. Gaby smsed me at about midnight last night, though I didn't see it till this morning. Got 115/150. At least I improved by 1 mark from last year *snorts*. She said that sight-reading and aurals claimed most of the marks, though she hasn't replied my sms asking for the breakdown of marks. Ah well. Why try to be something I'm not? Might as well go with the flow and take something I'll do well in. For once. Instead of trying to be someone I'm not. Lit, needless to say, was horrible today. I have a horrible feeling that I went out of point for all the essays, especially the ones on prose fiction and drama. *sigh* I need to go study for maths, and actually start chem. 5:48 PM Sunday, November 11, 2007 Thank God the techies didn't shut the network down. Though it was really really slow yesterday afternoon. So what shall I do with my inexistent chainsaw? Been studying my arse off, literally. My bum hurts from sitting on my hard chair all day. I haven't actually done much today. Did an exam paper, did half of my intro calc notes and that's about all. I'm giving physics a rest till tonight. Or maybe I'll just give it a rest because it's no point cramming at the last minute, and the exam's always way easier than usual. I'll turn in early for once tonight. Been sleeping at about 1 for the past 3 days to get study done when the house is nice and quiet. On average, I think I've done about... 4 hours on school days (4 days), and about 10 on Fri and Sat and about 4 today? So that makes about... 40 hours. Wow... Not that it seems a lot, given how I've done them with quite a number of breaks in between. I've decided to do lit and intro calc on tues, intro calc and chem on wed, chem on thurs, geom and trig from Fri-Sun, geom and trig and hist on Mon, hist on Tues. I won't really care about hist. I've got an A and I'm dropping the sub, so who cares? :D Anyway, I shall go look up Wuthering Heights online study guides because I don't wanna read the whole book. 5:08 PM Saturday, November 10, 2007 I swear if the techies in school shut the school network down this weekend, I'll personally bring a chainsaw and decapitate them on Monday. I think I might just go buy a chainsaw after church now. 5:04 PM Wednesday, November 07, 2007 With regards to the music vs history thing, it's probably going to be music. I doubt there is a shred of hope that history will somehow get better than the maths and sciences, so screw that. If I'm taking something, I might as well take something I actually ENJOY. I emailed the evil dwarf today regarding above subject, thinking that he would not read his emails till late in the day. I emailed during recess, we had history before lunch. Sadly, he read it before the lesson, and so hauled me out at the end of the lesson to talk about it. Strangely enough, he actually remembers that my mum didn't want me to take history! So he was going on about how I'm actually doing well and will probably get 80+ if I take hist next year. And that he noticed my writing's deproved. HAHA. Well, due to the fact that I really couldn't be bothered this term/semester. Other subjects take precedence. It wasn't that bad. At least he wasn't horrible or anything. I guess he knew I'd more or less made up my mind. HAHA. Back to music. I've chosen 2 of my new pieces! One is the 1st Beethoven Sonata, Op. 2. Which runs for about 15 pages O.o. The whole thing, not just one woosy little movement. And the last movement is prestissimo, which freaked me out, though Gaby reassured me, saying it was within my technical reach. The 2nd piece is a Chopin Etude, Op. 25 No. 12. I was offered either the Revolutionary (Op. 10 No. 12) or this one. I thought the Revolutionary was a bit overrated, so I chose this one. And also because I prefer this one :). And I'm probably playing a Bach concerto (for our school's annual concerto night thingum: will elaborate later), or RHAPSODY IN BLUE. Gaby was asking me if I was game for the latter, and I'm like 'yeah, sure. At least I'll recognise a Gershwin the next time I have an aural test'. Bah. Apparently she decided to organise this 'composer of the month' thing next year due to absymal aural students like me. She will play a few minutes of that composer's stuff at the end of a lesson so that students will actually recognise it. HAHA. Anyway, I need to decide on my Baroque and Modern piece! Gaby played quite a bit of Shostakovich for me, but I've never liked Shostakovich. I felt quite bad making her play piece after piece for me. Though it was nice listening to her play :). Oh, I got my blue marks thingum from the music festival. Got 85/100, which is actually quite good! Considering the amount of tests and assignments that had totally burnt out my brain. And the adjudicator basically said the same things Gaby said. HAHA. And I'm doing a Beethoven 2-hand with one of her other students, who had her exam on the same day and we're now friends :). She's a year younger, though we're in the same school/house. And I didn't get a choice as to whether I played the top or bottom part :(. No fair. So I missed a whole lesson of chem (actually, a whole hour's more accurate) because I was photocopying music (the beethoven was a monster to photocopy) and talking to Gaby/choosing pieces. Gaby was asking if I needed an orange slip (which just says I was at music, and signed by the music teacher), and I was like nah, they're just going through the test. Oh, I told her that I expected to fail the chem test due to the music fest the day before, which left me with absolutely no time to study. So she was like 'oh, so what did you get?' And I was like 'um... 45.5?' And she was like 'out of...?' And, sheepishly, I said '46'. And she was like 'yeah, you failed. Can you see the cry wolf element in that? No one's going to believe you when you say you're going to fail and get what, 98%?' And I was like 'um, actually, it was 99%'. HAHAHAHA. News travels too quickly in the school. I've had random people just coming up and screaming in my face 'YOU GOT 45.5/46 FOR THE CHEM TEST?! OMFG, YOU FREAK!', which is really quite terrifying, especially when you're balancing a pile of textbooks on the stairs. Well, considering how nearly half the cohort failed the test, I can't blame them for wanting to make me fall over and crack my skull on the landing of the stairs. I would do the same, if it were someone else. Anyway, my total mark for the year (excluding the exam, which is worth 47%. O.o) for chem is 49/53. Thus, I only need to get 2% in my exam to pass the year's course. HAHA. I'm guaranteed another 5 marks though, which comes from homework. So technically, I've passed chem :). And something more freaky than random people yelling in my face is that my chem teacher likes me. Or rather, I think she does. Firstly, she doesn't tell me off when I get there an hour late due to music. Which I told Gaby, to which she replied 'well, I'm sure your chem teacher would be wondering what she's doing up there if you don't turn up for half her lessons and still get 99%'. Secondly, she's been asking me all sorts of things, like what I wanna be, what subs I take etc. Thirdly, when she told me I needed just 1 more mark to pass, I told her that it's the same for hist, of which I'm guaranteed an A, and she went 'oh, I'm sure you're guaranteed more than an A'. Considering she thinks our cohort is, I quote, 'terribly unfocused and HOPELESS', it's quite frightening. She was saying today how the 'general consensus among the teachers is that the year 11s (aka us) are hopeless'. What an encouraging lady she is. Anyway, on a darker note, I'VE LOST MY GRADE 8 PIANO BOOK :(. It's supposed to be with everything else, but I can't find it! Thank God my exam's over though. However, if I fail, I'll need it next year, and then I'm screwed! :( I've been trying to find it at home/in school, but to no avail. Boo :(. I remembered taking it home with my dinosaur of a metronome, which is sitting happily on top of my piano along with my sight-reading, scales and miscellaneous stuff, and a random Debussy preludes book. And a whole stack of music. So everything is there, except that book :(. I hope I didn't lose it in school. If I did, I'm screwed. And I'm screwed if I don't go study. I probably won't be on till in about 1 and a half weeks, when my exams end (on the 21st of Nov). They start next week. I'm going to fail! Or, as Gaby mocked me, 'you'll only fail if your pass is 95%'. She's been mocking me about the 'failure' of a chem test since I told her. Which was just yesterday. Humph. Though I admit it's quite funny, especially when she was telling my friend about it, and randomly surveying people as to whether they'd believe someone who says they're going to fail, but gets 99% in their test. Most of them (actually all of them), regrettably, said no. Humph. 8:33 PM Monday, November 05, 2007 O.o Am I always cursed to be 3rd in class for hist? Because 2 people tied for 1st, pushing me off to 3rd. Surprisingly enough, I'm sitting on 78% for hist, without the exam (which is worth 10%). So, I'm guaranteed 70% even if I get 0% for the exam :). A comforting thought, don't you think so? Anyway, that was a pleasant surprise. I thought I did crap in hist due to the lack of effort I put in (well, relative to others), but apparently not! So I'm probably sitting comfortably on an A overall :D. Oh, and remember the chem test which I said I was going to fail because of the number of lessons I missed for piano? That was an even greater surprise. I apparently only made a mistake for not saying that the orange colour of the bromine water fades (I only said bromine water decolourises: it was for alkenes), and so lost a grand total of HALF out of 46. Which means 99%. I started panicking in the morning (chem was last period) because I overheard someone from another class mentioning that anyone who passed should be happy. So my teacher was like 'oh, the test was okay...' (at which I cringed), and someone got 45.5/46, at which I presently swore under my breath. And she mentioned the mistake the person made (the bromine thing), and said it was a bit mean of her to take half a mark off for that. At which I present swore under my breath again, remembering I made the same mistake. Then she went 'so well done to Jolene', at which I loudly exclaimed 'WHAT?!' Well, more like CLUCKED. You know how the cartoon chickens go 'POOK?!' I'm guessing I sounded similar to that. I was just discussing with my friend what kind of dismal mark I was gonna get before that, so that was a bit spooky, in a good way. And so I'm in a good mood! I've passed just about all my assessments from last week, except the lit oral, which I don't know what I got yet (and I don't want to know). But the friend with whom I was exchanging snide comments with during the music festival got her blue remarks sheet today from the adjudicator, and it includes a MARK out of 100. Sh*t. I have a shrewd feeling Gaby's got my sheet. So I might just wear my non-existent bulletproof suit before going for my music lesson tomorrow... I am actually looking forward to tomorrow! For a change. I'm getting new pieces for piano! Yay! Though I'm not looking forward to sport :(. Or my lit oral mark :(. Or telling Gaby I'm reconsidering dropping history for music due to the fact that I did quite well in hist despite a lack of study, and that music would mean extra effort due to the many concepts of composing that are currently unknown to me :(. I mean, next year (major exams before uni) is really not the time for risk-taking. I want subs that would basically guarantee me a good mark without much effort. Of which hist has a huge, pink neon sign hanging over. *sigh* Choices, choices. Don't you just hate choices sometimes? I need to get my decision in by Fri for the admin to get everything done by next year. Anyone has any suggestions (besides saying that I'm screwed and point and laugh)? 7:56 PM Sunday, November 04, 2007 I've just been tossing this around in my head (yes, like salad, considering what a vegetable I am) for the past couple of days. Is it possible to be too successful, given your level of intelligence? It just crossed my mind after this hellish albeit surprising week. I think I'm the perfect epitome for that category of people. Gah. I should just curl up and die so that the human gene pool won't deteriorate further. That aside, I've got exams coming up. Would anyone like to be my online study buddy (hey, it rhymes!)? :) Pretty please? :D 12:03 PM Saturday, November 03, 2007 Remember how I mentioned in the last post I got a merit award for the fluke of a maths comp? Apparently there're less than 50 entries in the whole of Aussieland that get either a prize/merit. Holy f*ck. Considering the number of entries that are sent in, I'm seriously flabbergasted. My crappy little entry got a merit award? *faints* A good point about this is that I don't have to give a speech. Wahahaha. I can tell Gaby that. She's been asking me practically every piano lesson when I was going to make another speech, and I can now tell her NEVER. Wahahaha. I'm still really shocked though. Maybe it was a typo/the judges forgot their glasses. Bah. And I need to go study. My exams are in ONE WEEK. Crap. 3:33 PM Friday, November 02, 2007 YES! THE FRICKING HELLISH WEEK OF THE YEAR IS OVER! I'm pretty sure even the exam week(s) won't be that bad, really. I think I shall confer a few awards on this week that's just passed... 1stly, the Most Hellish Week of the Year award. 2ndly, the Most Screw-up-y Week of the Year award. Last and not the least, the Highest Potential of Dying from a Cardiac Arrest Week of the Year award. I don't think I need to remind you what I had on this week, considering how I've been doing that for the past 2 weeks. Anyway, let's go through how it went. Monday: piano, crap. Tues: History, crap Wed: History and physics, crap Thurs: Geom and trig ass and test and school's music fest, crap Fri (today): lit oral and chem, CRAP with (quite obviously) large, capital letters About the history: apparently the evil dwarf thought my piano exam was on Tues, thus he didn't give me the sources for the doc study beforehand. He gave them to everyone else at the end of Mon's lesson, of which I missed more than half. So I just did them impromptu, with his promise that he'd give me extra marks. Not that it happened. Though I got 18/25, which is still my lowest mark ever :(. Who cares about hist. I'm probably quitting it for music next year. However, I'm starting to have 2nd thoughts about music after the music fest yesterday... There're just too many people who're good (or fine, better than me) doing music. Aka, my chances of getting a good mark (ie: towards the top of the class) are very, very low. And I was (and am) just feeling highly inadequate after listening to some of them. Bah. There was this 12 year old kid who played the Mendelssohn Rondo Capriccioso and was absolutely breathtaking (in my opinion anyway). Thank God she went after me. Imagine the effects of juxtaposition. I thought she should have won, but I guess the judge thought it would be quite mean to put us 'senior' students to shame. But good news is that I passed the hist (obviously), the geom and trig and the physics. I was kind of pissed off at the geom and trig because I made really stupid errors. However, I got 49.5/51, which is 97% :). Wahahahaha. Could have gotten full marks though :(. Physics, despite me thinking it was a complete disaster, came out with 42/50. I guess the only ques I lost most of my marks in (6 marks) was the one I was fretting over. So it wasn't that bad after all :). Chem today was really bad though. Considering the number of lessons I missed due to piano, I'd be happy to scrape a pass. I really can't give a crap (not to mention a few craps) about it because it's only 2.5% of the year's mark, and my other grades would definitely allow me to scrape an A at the end of the year already. Haha. My avg is 90+, so heck. :) Lit was crap too. I stumbled and staggered through the whole thing, and emerged bloody and mangled. Thank God the questions and answer part was scraped due to a lack of time. So I've got my hist essay, lit oral, geom and trig ass (which I realised I screwed up in many places) and chem test to get back. Boo :(. Oh, I just found out today that I apparently got a merit award in the maths talent quest thing (the one which I got 1st in the State, and was a FLUKE). Which means... I didn't get any of the overall major awards (either section or yearly), but the judges awarded a merit cert for my supposedly 'outstanding entry which did not receive a major award'. *snorts with derisive laughter* I shall just leave and laugh myself into a dead faint now. 5:55 PM Thursday, November 01, 2007 Yes! I think I've just about finished chem. And It's 11:36 at night. Wow. Considering I only got home at about 7:15 today, it's a great feat. I gobbled my dinner down, had a quick shower and started doing chem, despite a huge headache. Anyway, geom and trig was unpredictably easy today! I thought I missed a page because I finished so early despite being 5 mins late. Shouldn't have bothered studying so much. Bah. I hope chem's that easy tomorrow. Had the music fest after school. It actually didn't go too bad! I got a distinction, which was the highest 'category' you could get... Though I didn't win the trophy. But considering how I thought I'd get a participation, it's good enough. My friend and I were debating about what certs we were gonna get. She was like 'I think I'm gonna get a 'you are so crap, you don't even deserve a participation' cert', and I was like 'I think I'm gonna get a 'Omfg... You're so bad, you should just curl up and die' cert'. So we were just sniggering away as the adjudicator was making her speech. Apparently the adjudicator was the same friend's ex-teacher, though she (the teacher) was so bad, it made said friend's sister quit, and made her want to quit piano too. Gaby was there... Which made me even a heck more nervous. She thought I did well though, so that was nice :). And she was there when the judge was making her speech/giving certs out. We were running really late, and because the strings 'section' was after us, and Gaby was accompanying a cellist (who's also my friend, she was there. I felt really inadequate after listening to all those people though. They were so fricking good. And I'm like crap. Bah. It's like my self-esteem needs any more battering, with Gaby as a teacher. Well, something pretty morbidly funny happened though. There was this girl who played the Chopin Revolutionary Etude (Op. 10 No. 12). When I heard she was playing that, I was like wtf... When I heard her play, I was sniggering. It sounds mean, but she stopped at least 10 times due to memory lapses, and had to even stop and figure out notes in the middle. For God's sake, use the SCORE then! Hahahaha.. And she was the only person who got a participation. It was like 'Highly commended, highly commended, distinction, distinction, distinction, PARTICIPATION, distinction...' HAHA. At least I didn't get a participation. I reckon Gaby would have pulled out a subpoena from her bag and shot me in the head if I did. And I was learning how to play a violin (albeit really badly) from another friend during the 'break' between after school and the music fest. It didn't sound very good at all. HAHA. My friend was wincing all the way. Ohoh, the old hag gave me the all-time highest mark she ever gave me! I swear she must have been on drugs though... She actually gave someone FULL MARKS and another person 24/25. Though those 2 said people always top the class, though not by such great margins. I got 20/25, which I thought was really good, considering it's lit! It was the Plath essay anyway, if any of you were wondering. But we've to do our oral presentations tomorrow. Some people've already done theirs, though I haven't. It's been volunteering but due to the lack of volunteers, she says she's gonna pick people tomorrow. I'm going to say she's gonna pick me. I somehow exude this 'pick-me' aura to all teachers. *sigh* Shall go to bed. It is pretty late now, you know. Stupid daylight savings (yes, Gaby, I know you think it's brilliant, but I still don't). 10:33 PM
