Family friends just left about an hour ago (after spending 6 hours here), and so here I am, after my bath... And it's nearly 11.

If it were up to me, I'd have done a Plath and thrown my parents' guests out about 2 mins into their visit. Since it wasn't (unfortunately), I shut the door and read the evening away (I was so bored, I was reading DAN BROWN).

And now I've a bad sore throat from dehydration because I didn't want to face the prospect of being involved in small talk just for a cup of water. Argh.

Poor Maisy was pestered by their 2 kids the whole day. She's deadbeat now.

The evening ended as I expected. They, knowing the 'excellent' pianists my brother and I are, got us to play. My brother was quite gracious and did so first. As for me, I sought refuge in the bathroom and faked a bad diarrhoea. Sadly, my mum didn't buy it.

They ambushed me after my said diarrhoea. It was my worst renditions of the Bach prelude and Mozart sonata. Well, considering that I probably stunk like a skunk from my shower-deprivation, and that my mood was like that of a person with a porcupine shoved up their rearend, it was good enough that I even attempted to placate my mum. Rather they forced me into it. I screwed up nearly half of the prelude (I didn't have the bk there...), and just didn't bother about the Mozart slurs. I bet Gaby's very disappointed with me.

I'm glad they weren't very musical people. They ranted and raved about my pianistic abilities. I reckon they wouldn't have noticed even if it was a cross-eyed maniacal monkey playing in my place. I had to bite back a few sniggers the whole time. The guy even asked my bro what he played (Chopin nocturne 21 in C sharp). I wouldn't even say my bro's rendition of the Chopin nocturne was that good. I thought it was mediocre. It didn't possess the emotion that nocturnes are supposed to have... It was more technical than anything. Even then, he screwed up quite a bit.

But well, considering the fact that I was cowering in the bathroom, the sound wasn't that fantastic and my mood probably made it sound much worse. I'm glad they didn't really have much time to talk about my playing after that, because it was late, and their kids were getting sleepy (good kids).

I'm over the fact that it's the hols. I guess when it starts to sink in, you no longer give a crap about it.

And apparently my mum told the friend that I won that Maths thingum. I wanted very badly to shout in her face that it was a FLUKE, but being the restrained, RESPECTED MEMBER OF SOCIETY I am, I just accepted it graciously and uh-huhed my way through it. The lady friend was going on about claiming glory for Singaporeans, which really made me want to fall to the floor and laugh myself into a dead faint.

What amazed me most was that my mum actually bothered enough to tell her about it. I guess she is proud of the fact that her daughter won one of the most prestigious Maths comps in the State (might I remind you, due to a fluke). She just never let me know, that's all. Since she never said anything beyond 'that primary school kid spoke way better than you did' about the event, I just assumed she didn't bother. Oh well.

On top of that, she's coming to the piano recital Gaby's having for all her students. And those taking exams have to play, regardless of broken limbs and amnesia. She didn't say that. She just said it was compulsory. I guess I'll just have to tolerate the snide comments that the 6 year old kid played way better than I did. Big deal.

I'm worried about said recital. Esp my mum... I wonder what's going to happen when she and Gaby meet (I'm crossing my fingers and hoping neither party bitches about me. I'm pretty sure Gaby won't, but my mum...). I hope the 'she-will-be-a-lawyer' topic won't come up. I think I'd dunk my head in the fruit punch bowl (if there's one) like an ostrich and drown myself.

Yawn. I'm too tired to think. Probably why this post has just been a bunch of nonsensical rantings that no one will read.

I've decided that life can be good sometimes. Especially when you can be a polar bear and snuggle under your blankets for 12 hours, sleeping like no one gives a d*mn.

Which was what happened last night :).

The end of term finished with quite a bang indeed, since I had to do my physics oral presentation on roller coasters last period of the day. I rambled on like a roller coaster, reaching terminal velocity, and tumbled on a few words. Newton's laws sure were right. The direction of my speech towards a big fat 0 couldn't be changed despite the huge amounts of FORCE I tried to put on it, and action=reaction. Since my speech was horrible, the reaction would definitely be a really bad mark.

The wonders of physics indeed. To think it was able to infiltrate even my blog entry.

IT'S THE HOLIDAYS!!! *does a manic Forrest-Gump-like victory dance that looks more like a chicken getting its head chopped off* I actually survived the term (though probably not in one piece).

Well, give me a break. It's not like next term's going to be one sunny holiday somewhere across the world (for example, Tahiti). I'd be crumbling under the deluge of tests and exams.

Maisy's asleep now. Almost everyone who's seen her reckons she's overweight. She's 6.8kg now, and that means she's put on 1.8kg in 6 months. Which isn't very good (as you would have deduced). But how could you ever resist that watery, pitiful-puppy look? Argh. I swear she eats more than I do, considering how she gets more than half of my meat during meals.

Yesterday, besides the physics oral, was probably the best school day ever. We did nothing (as usual) in history, watched the movie 'Sylvia' in lit (which is on Sylvia Plath, if you haven't realised it), did nothing much in chem except get our lab quizzes and watched a lab demo (full marks for the quiz! Wahahaha... Only one in the class :)), did nothing in religious study except play snake on my calculator, did kakuro puzzles in geom and trig (that was the best geom and trig lesson ever), and did my physics oral.

I'm going to have a holiday of hedonistic debauchery, which involves quite a lot of shopping for new clothes/shoes. My wardrobe consists only of jeans and t-shirts and school uniform, so I think it's quite necessary for me to get more jeans and t-shirts. Shoes don't really exist at the moment, because my sport shoes have got huge holes in them.

And another piece of good news: I might be doing music (as a subject) next yr! Rmb how I said that I wasn't allowed to do it due to timetable clashes? Well, Gaby spoke to the head of music (I think) and he said I could! I just need to do an hour of music history, and the rest can be done outside of class. Yay! That means I can drop history (no more seeing that evil dwarf).

As you've guessed, I'm still highly annoyed at my history teacher. We've done no work this whole year. Someone apparently got 2/25 for their document study. It's not very surprising, considering the amount that he chooses to teach us. Thank goodness Ms Koh was a way better teacher, or I might be the unfortunate person bearing the brunt of his bad teaching.

Oh well. Going to get some food now.

Got our chem tests back... I topped the class! 38/40. Which is 95% :). Well, I dropped by 0.0024% from the last test. HAHAHAHA.

Well, felt kind of depressed last night, and so decided to try my hand at writing poetry after such a long hiatus. It's pretty bad, and I got heavily influenced by my studying for my history in-class essay (which is tomorrow).

Black

They shot an arrow through
my pretty red heart.
Let it in

two pieces

Angry red eyes
Medusa eyes
Dripping red
Turning black.

Meinkamph, Stormtrooper Black.

Thrown into a packed train
Chuffed off to oblivion.
My pretty red heart
Shone like a Nazi lamp.

Why, oh why
Cruel, cruel, cruel
First they used white bullets,
Fired them in bottles.

They tried to keep me
Trapped in a bottle.

I tried, oh I tried,
To escape, turn to bones,
I tried.

They sticky-taped, safety-
pinned me into place,
their eely tentacles suffocating.

AIR
AIR
AIR

My pretty red heart,
My pretty red heart...

My pretty black heart.

I know it's angry, angsty, teenage-clichey. And it sounds somewhat Sylvia Plath-ish. Argh. Did I say we're studying her for lit? :D

Anyway, just before I set off to school at like 7 in the morning, I was hit by inspiration for another poem which I completed in 6 mins. Talk about productivity indeed.

Identity

You breathed life into me,
Gave me an

Identity

a

Name.

I was part of you.

You tied a noose around my neck,
Silky, painless, you claimed,
All for my good.

A price tag,
IQ of 140, Straight As,
Law school, Medicine,

$

You killed me
A Stake through the
Slender S of my
Body.

I wasn't anything,
So you made me
You.

A Noose,
Pricetag,
Dog Leash: Jewel encrusted.

Mummy (& Daddy), I'm free of
Your evil claws,
Your cleft feet.

I'm out of here.

No prizes for where that came from. Pressures and nerves from my geom and trig test, I guess. I reckon I flunked that. Figured out how to do the last ques when time was up, and it was worth 10 marks. I did manage to scribble a few lines in though. Hope I'll get something out of the scribbled crap. First time I didn't have surplus time for a test :(.

Oh well. Gotta go bathe, then do some piano, then study. So tired...

1 more week to the school holidays! *truimphant music*

Not that it'll be much of a hol, considering that my piano exam's in 5 weeks time (29th Oct), and my eoys are in 7. :(

It's gonna be a hell of a week to get through though. Let's see...

Mon: Geom and trig assignment test
Tues: History in-class essay
Wed: Physics and intro calc *dies*
Thurs: ADVENTURE WORLD!!!
Fri: Physics assignment

ADVENTURE WORLD! It's like escape theme park in Sg (aka: probably puke-covered), and it's a physics excursion, meaning we'll have to do quizzes and calculate the amount of potential/kinetic energy each ride needs to function. And I really don't know if I should say I'm kidding, because the permission slip did mention some calculations on the rides...

And, guess what? The actual after-winter opening of the place is only on Saturday. Which really worries me about the safety of the rides (they haven't been used in 3 months or so). I wouldn't like the centripetal forces on the loop-the-loop to go awry and make the coaster follow Newton's First Law and send me screaming into the sunny blue sky you know. :P

This week hasn't actually been as bad as I imagined. Because I stayed home 'sick' *wink wink* on Tues, I got my lit essay done in like 6 hours (hahaha...). Well, I'm a perfectionist :P. And geom and trig wasn't too bad. I missed the top mark by ONE MARK. All because I got a 5 mark ques I really didn't know how to do wrong. So I got 44/49, while the top mark was 45. Argh. It's still 90% though :). *runs away to avoid getting bashed up*

Chem on Fri wasn't that bad. On the contrary, I thought it was good (yeah, the first time in all eternity). Probably because I actually did ALL the homework sheets (which was a LOT ok!).

The Perth Royal Show's coming up! It's kind of like a annually 'carnival' with animal shows and heaps of food and candy! Not that I'm going :(. Just gonna get someone to buy me the showbags. I'm gonna get $25 worth of candy (Roc candy), and $6.60 of dog treats for Maisy :). She's so cute... My mum just commented she's like a pig: always eating and sleeping. And she eats a HEAP of food. You wouldn't believe a little furball like her would eat so much.

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE HOLS!

As I mentioned, my piano exam's on the 29th of Oct (PRAY FOR MY POOR SOUL). I'm getting really scared! Seems too near for my liking... And Gaby's having a recital for her students. And it's compulsory for those taking exams to play. *freaks out* And I'm not allowed to wear jeans and t-shirt. *freaks out even more*

Oh well. Gotta go study for my tests. Good luck to all having exams!

Oh crud. I just realised I sent an email to my school account with my blog url on it (as I mentioned, it's now in my email siggy) and thus, if the IT guys bother checking, lo and behold, they'll arrive here.

*freaks out*

11:43 PM

Maisy's gone to work with my mum because my mum booked an 'appointment' with one of her little doggy friends for a 'play session'. That really does sound hilarious.

This week (or rather yesterday) has been pretty disasterous. Got my physics test back last Thurs, and hist yesterday. Worst tests in the whole year, though well, I'll admit they weren't that bad. 37.5/50 for the physics, 18/25 (blargh. Even Ms Koh gave me better marks than that) for the hist.

Had a headache yesterday, spent the morning in Confirmation service for 13 members of our school. Missed half of geom and trig for that, so I'm not complaining.

Piano yesterday was kind of disasterous as well. I wasn't myself (as you guys probably gathered already), and Gaby was really pissed off with my refusal to sing. I don't know why I don't want to sing (might be some deeply rooted traumatising event that I'm not aware of or something), and I wanted to apologise to her for it because well, I don't think I'm worth the effort. Oh well.

Got my piano exam dates though. 29th of Oct *shudders in fear*. It's about 6 weeks away, which is really terrifying. School exams are 8 weeks away too *shudders even more*. It's kind of strange... The year's passed so quickly. I guess work does help pass time quicker (and without thinking about stuff too much).

It's easier to do trigonometric identities than wonder about the meaning of life and get all depressed. Or it's easier to differentiate algebriac expressions than get talked into being a lawyer/doctor by the family. Speaking about that, it happened over Sunday's lunch, and was quite horrible. It ended with me proclaiming in frustration that I was going to be a kebab seller (yeah, no prizes for where the idea came from), and the family's frustration at paying such huge amounts of money for a kebab seller.

And I should stop procrastinating and start that dratted lit essay that's due TOMORROW. I've had so many assignments, I don't know which ones to start with, resulting in the majority of them being left undone. I've got my lit due tmr and physics due on fri (finished the ppt, left with the 'speech', bibliography and notes) and done the rest (except for 2 pages of the geom and trig).

I'd admit doing my lit essay in the comfort of the computer (and Maisy, when she gets home) is way better than roasting under the sun at a sports meet.

Oh, and I finished that maths talent quest thingum (which I won the State competition due to a FLUKE) last week. It's been sent off, which is a really HUGE relief. I'm pretty confident I won't win anything this time :). No speeches to worry about (haha, Gaby will definitely beg to differ), so I can get back to being nerdy and reading up about Euler and other famous mathematicians on Wikipedia when I get the time (aka: never). (Did you really think I'd do such a thing?)

Tuesday, September 11, 2007

I'm having a reprieve from my studying for my maths test tomorrow, so here I am.

And for the 49387596060th time, I'm going to rant and rave about the deluge of tests and assignments I have in the next 2 and a half weeks. Here's an update: on top of the others I had been complaining about, a few other teachers decided to give us a huge *treat* and add a few other assignments on. Thus, now, I have: a test for every sub but lit, and an assignment for every sub but chem. Isn't it great? The teachers sure are lovely.

Talking about teachers, we got a student teacher for maths who isn't very good. 'Isn't very good' really is a huge understatement. The notes he gives are, if not incomprehensible, utterly useless. And last week, on a wonderful, sunny Wednesday morning, he sprung a SPOT TEST on us. Which, needless to say, the whole class but 5 people passed. Unfortunately, I wasn't 1 of the 5. HAHAHAHA.

I got 9/20! Well, I tried half the questions, didn't have time for the other half. And, as Gaby said, it is way above average since the average was only 5/20. I guess everyone treated it like a huge joke, since we've never had spot tests. However, it sure was a clear indication of how much the class (esp since we're the top class) learnt from him so far.

Anyway, other than school, Maisy was sick today :(. We think she caught a chill because the weather took a sudden turn for the cold (despite it being spring) in the past 2 days. Boo.

Yanne, I've received your email, but unfortunately, haven't had the time to reply (yes, ironic, I know). I promise to reply asap (which probably wouldn't be too soon).

Gotta go study.

9:02 PM

Wednesday, September 05, 2007

Anyway, justa quick post now. I promise a longer one sometime in the near/far future.

I called my previous piano teacher (Inna/Mrs Fursa, as some of you would remember) on Fri because it was her birthday! We spent 45 mins on the phone while her daughter (as I imagined) tugged on her skirt as she wanted to go to bed. She actually recognised my voice, despite me having not called for nearly half a yr (gee... Time does fly). And she could tell that I had a cold *is slightly spooked*. I used to think people couldn't recognise my voice on the phone. Maybe I was wrong.

Hmm... It was also Maisy's birthday (I think I mentioned this) on Wed. We bought her 2 lamb steaks (she couldn't finish them: too much food) and she got this bag of presents from her doggy friend's owner (who frequents my mum's shop). The presents included a huge bag of treats, a toy (which she bit a huge hole in after playing with it for 15 mins), a pkt of dental bones and 2 bone treats. And we gave her another bag of treats, 2 new frisbees and a lot of tender loving care. HAHA.

Too bad there aren't any doggy birthday cakes :(.

Saturday was Teachers' Day! I smsed Ng, and guess what? She REPLIED. The first time in a million light years? Maybe not. Haha. And I asked if her email's still the same, and she said yes. So I might drop her an email over the weekend, if I remember/get the time. I do have 3 assignments to complete *sighs*.

School's been horrible. I'll elaborate at the end.

Anyway, I bought Gaby (my piano teacher, if some of you've forgotten) a Teachers' Day present. Went shopping on Sunday... Bought her one of those desert plants (which I thought was really pretty), and a box of Cadbury Roses. And no, the plant WASN'T a CACTUS. I would have gotten her one, but it's got negative connotations. And this desert plant (it's just me not to have asked the name of it) supposedly has pretty red flowers, so I thought she'd like it. And I thought flowers/chocs were a bit too typical, so I went for something more unusual. When I told some of my classmates I bought Gaby a plant, they were like 'A PLANT?!'. What's wrong with that? Humph. I thought she'd like them, and I think unusual presents are more interesting than typical ones.

Oh, in case you were wondering, Aussies don't celebrate Teachers' Day. Probably why they're experiencing a teachers shortage now *snickers*. Well, it's more probable that they wouldn't want to teach devil incarnates like me.

School's been quite terrible really, other than piano lessons. Physics test was disastrous, and history today was like the apocalypse. I think I misinterpreted the first source, which would really be the end of a gd test mark. Argh. I don't get the whole Nazi thing. They're just a bunch of weirdoes who somehow got together and came up with a chunk of weirdo ideas that caused the deaths of millions.

On the bright side, we got our research essays (yes, the ones I spent nearly 15 hours over the weekend before it on). I actually did well for the actual essay, but bombed out on the notes (which were horribly rushed). I thought it wouldn't be gd, as I got to class 15 mins late after running around the school attempting to find a printer that printed. I'm not complaining about 28.5/35 for the whole thing (21.5/25 for the essay, which is one of the best I've ever gotten). Woots.

And also, today, I solved the challenge ques at the end of the Maths textbk exercise! And I did it quicker than the teacher! She did say that she helped other people with their questions, but she started earlier than I did. Humph.

I've got 2 weeks to do my physics oral assignment, as well as start re-researching and improving on that Maths thingum which is going for that national competition. *sighs* This is one of the times you wish you nvr won it.

And I've got my piano exam in mid-oct to Nov to worry about too. *tears hair out in chunks* Looks like I'll be kissing my holidays gdbye.

I'M GONNA FAIL ALL MY TESTS AND EXAMS AND WHAT NOTS. ARGH. *goes into stress attack*

I'll just worry about these last 3 weeks of term. I have got that physics ass, maths project, chem test, intro calculus ass, geom and trig ass, geom and trig test, intro calculus test and a whole bunch of other stuff to worry about. *eyes start to roll in sockets, body goes into spasms*

As such, I think that's enough reasons why I probably won't be blogging much in the next 3 weeks. And also, I should go and do my hw then go to bed before I collapse from sheer exhaustion. And I did say this would be a short post, but I guess I was wrong (as I always am).

On a final note, I'm sorely jealous that you guys have got hols (maybe not those who're taking the Os) while I'm dying over here. Also, gd luck to all who've got exams after the hols (which is probably all of you). Fine, I'm out of here.
