I am really tired at the moment, after the HIGHLY EXCITING body combat session as well as walk-a-thon. Personally, I feel that if we didn't spend the money inviting these external instructors to teach these HIGHLY USELESS routines to us, we could have used this hugh amount of money to actually make something like wristbands with 'Healthy heart, giving heart', since the school loves wristbands so much. Honestly, I think body combact is ludricrous. Fighting comes naturally to most people, and routines do NOT help at all. Had a rather amusing diaglogue with Sars in the morning, and it ended with me predicting what Mrs Ng would wear. I actually guessed it correctly! Me: SARS! I AM PSYCHIC!!! Sars: OH HAHAHA... Mrs Ng: Jolene, what did you foresee correctly? Me: *refuses to answer* Sars: *happily* She predicted correctly what you would wear! Mrs Ng: Oh, I am SOO happy that I am the highlight of your day. Me: Yeah right... *National anthem plays* *After the National anthem* Mrs Ng: Were you the one who sent me the poem? Me: Yeah... *Embarrassed look* Mrs Ng: It was a nice try. Me: *dry laughter* Well, Mrs Ng read my poem after all. I was telling Faustina that today was the first day I felt anguish that Mrs Ng checked her mail so fast. Eunice looked so hilarious in our mascot! Well, Sharon, Claire, Melesa and I stayed back to paint the cow spots after the Maths Tuition yesterday. Sorry that we didn't ask for the other members of the class' opinions! Well, 2/5 did a milk carton too. Among the many mascots, there were strawberries, carrots, Red Indians (actually, it was a shuttlecock) and not to mention a bunch of grapes. The list goes on, so well... For the 'photo contest', I was highly bored and just sat there, staring into thin air. Then we started the walk. Mrs Ng was somewhere near Melesa and I, so I was feeling really uncomfortable. When we were walking out of the school, I was joking with Melesa as Mrs Ng had gone to the back, or so I had thought, but it happened that she was right behind me. So she went "Stop being so MOJO ok?" and as usual, I was laughed at. Interesting eh? Melesa and I were playing around with words. More like I infected her to play with words as I was too bored. She nearly got runned down by cars thrice or so, and it was all because of me, the Superman of her day, that she is still alive and kicking now. I nearly got runned down once, same with Mrs Ng. But she nearly got runned down after me, so she must have copied me. Well, I must claim copyrights back. The road marshals(sp?) were our teachers, and Mr Yam was there. I shouted "Thank you Mr Yam!" and he said 'you are welcome' back. I am such a polite girl, ain't I? Mr Sun was really relentless today. Especially when we were at SMU. There were some stalls manned by the parents, but I didn't patronize a single stall there. I scared Zeena and her friend out of their wits when I told them that bubble tea pearls are made out of detergent. It is true... Instant noodles are layered with wax, that's why I think you would be more prone to cancer if you eat too much. Our teachers were so enthusiastic about body combat, that they all did it better than I did. I looked like I was knocking on doors when I was punching, and dancing ballet when I was kicking. Well, all is one yeah? 2/3 won the best mascot! When they announced it, a heated conversation(haha) surfaced with Zeena, Melesa, Xue Ying and I. Ms Ong: The best mascot for Sec 2 level... Me: *Sigh* We won't get it. Ms Ong: 2/3!!! Four of us: *stunned silence* Whole class including us: *Cheers wildly* Me: Zeena, please hold me before I faint. Melesa: Hold me too. Xue Ying: So shocking! Zeena: I won't hold you, don't worry. What a good friend Zeena is... Just kidding! Well, I shall put the poem here, then go for my long-awaited bath. Thanks! 12:41 PM Friday, April 29, 2005 Well, I finally got some inspiration from my brother's SMS to my mum for the 'singlish' poem. But right now, I shall let it fully sink in before writing it. This morning, there was this really bad smell in the quadrangle for some reason. Maybe I am too sensitive to smells, but even Mrs Ng smelt it. Well, she obviously wanted to stand next to me during flag-raising for some silly reason, but she's been paying loads of SPECIAL ATTENTION to me this week. She was wearing her Converse shoes, as Seraphina and Pei Rong had wished. She then said something about me being the Joker in a pack of cards as I was able to move around and be any card. She then asked if I had read Solitaire Mystery, which is by Jostein Gaarder, and I said yes. I had read it last year, but with her mentioning it, I couldn't resist the temptation and borrowed it again. I shall stop digressing. I then answered by thanking her and saying that I was the trickiest of all. Interesting, eh? Assembly was dead boring. Well, we didn't break the Guiness record after all, but what's the point? As long as we all enjoyed ourselves, it's fine with me. Actually, if you all actually read the 2nd page of Home yesterday, you would have seen that our school was featured. I remember vividly that the Papers said we did the 'popiah' for 'fundraising for CHARITY'. I was rather angered at that fact, as I do not see the damned point about why the school always wants itself to be portrayed in such a charitable manner, and was rather loud when I spoke to Faustina about it. Mrs Ng obviously heard what I said, and so I apologized to her although I am not sure whether she knew I was apologizing to her. She probably thought I was apologizing to Faustina. That leads me to my next portion of this post. Mrs Ng then went to class and talked about the 'popiah' event, which was obviously aimed at me. I feigned ignorance to stop myself from retorting in anger. She said something about not criticizing if you can't come up with better ideas, and being a good follower like herself. Unfortunately, I beg to differ. She was doing nothing except acting like Cleopatra's maids and fanning the 'popiah'. If she sees this, my head would probably be rolling on the floor tomorrow and hung up like in the Rape of Nanking(Nanyang). I know this is really politically incorrect, but if you all haven't seen the irony, I can do nothing about it. So what is the true definition of a GOOD, let me emphasize on the word GOOD. I think there are 2 words that need to be defined; firstly, good, and secondly, follower. The word 'good' here probably means mindless doing for some members of the class, but personally, I think it is contributing and understanding the purpose of some actions. 'Follower' is defined as making background decisions for me. But with this definitions, I can ascertain the fact that I am not a good follower. I am not afraid to admit this for any reason. Firstly, I am very traumatised after the LSC incident, as I finally realised that I do not understand the true feelings of a girl and I really wish that history would never repeat itself (What happens once would never happen again, what happens twice would happen a third time). Secondly, my ideals and principles are really like the South and North pole of the world with most of the class, and for your additional information, our class is not one bounded by polarity. I am getting really scientific here... Lastly, I DO make the effort to contribute, but pertaining to the 2 above key reasons, my contributions amount to nothing most of the time. We watched Shrek 2 during Language Arts, and Irene, please remember that Piracy discourages Creativity. Zeena and I were shrieking with laughter, and it was the first time I saw Zeena like that. We were discussing the events in the movie, and identifying the ironies. The parodies in the movie were HILARIOUS! Actually, they are mostly fairytales, like the 3 little pigs. I found the fairy godmother highly ironic. She is supposed to be a FAIRY, not a DEVIL. The part about Shrek and Fiona was touching, though it was rather anti-climax when puss-in-boots spoke(mewed?). It happened that we researched on Hollywood recently for the debate, and I came across the cast of Shrek 2. So when the rest were amazed at the voices behind the cast, Zeena and I were like "Didn't you know???". I personally think that Eddie Murphy is one of the most hilarious guys on Earth. The Nutty Professor... Chinese, Science and Maths borred zee hell outta moi. I am speaking in American accent. I finished my Chinese Comprehension 10 minutes earlier and could only subject myself to self-entertainment, which turned out to entertain/distract the rest, resulting in them not finishing their comprehension. My sincerest apologies here. The self-entertaining virus obviously found a really good breeding place/sanatorium in my brain, and refused to leave. I shall start writing the poem now, and hope to finish it by tonight, though I think it would be highly impossible. Goodbye! 6:04 PM Thursday, April 28, 2005 The fatigue's starting to set in again, so I shan't blog much. After my bath, I may start writing the poem Mrs Ng challenged me with. Well, I haven't thought of what I would write about much, but I do have a rough idea going in my head... Anyway, the whole Language Arts lesson was so ironic, I don't know what to say. That carried on for the whole day actually. Enough said here. I am gonna doze off if I carry on here. And this is what my mum's saying. Mum: wenawryugetingowftekomputor (when are you getting off the computer) 5:38 PM Wednesday, April 27, 2005 We lost to MGS, but the passion for Debates was not extinguished even the least bit. It made that fire burn even more fiercely. Well, they were worthy opponents, and we performed our best, but we were still not as good as them, so who cares? As long as we improve and take this competition to be just a stepping stone to greater heights, who cares? Like their 3rd speaker, whom Ram said was stuttering last time. Now she's so confident and fluent. At least we didn't stutter much, so there's still room for improvement and we shouldn't dwell on the unhappy past. Anyway, RGS was out too. SCGS somehow beat them, which is such a pity. We all didn't like the SCGS speakers for some reason I shall not say before I am charged with slander. I think the margin between MGS and us was rather small as MGS was 3rd instead of 2nd. SCGS got 2nd though. What a pity... Due to the 'popiah'-making event held today, we had assembly in class. That means that we had 15 mins more of Language Arts, which seemed like an eternity. Well, as usual, I was picked on again. I was the last to be asked if I had any questions, so I had to be made fun off. Mrs Ng: I know Jolene has a question. Me: WHAT?! Mrs Ng: She must be wanting to ask if she is Bob Ewell or Atticus. Someone: She's Bob Ewell! Interesting, isn't it? I couldn't be bothered to drag my carcass down to the quadrangle, so I just stood outside the class and waved/cheered. When they were done, I was dead hungry, and though I was really hesitant about eating the 'popiah', I ate it in the end since I still had to pay $1 for it no matter what. But it wasn't too tasty... The turnips tasted like they were cooked in herbal tea. Because of the Debates competition, I had to go off halfway during Geography. Poor Mrs Chan didn't have more opportunities to call "her GEOG rep" then. She wished me good luck, but I was too embarrassed and just said thanks and rushed off. It turned out that Mr Chan had kindly forgotten to inform the bus company that we wanted the bus to leave at 12.45, and not 12. So when we went down, we saw that there was just a nice empty space outside the auditorium. Ram said that he could only fetch 2 people and so Amandy and Nun went with him. I suggested asking Mr Chan before leaving, so the whole group of us, including this big, handsome indian guy called Ram went to the English staffroom. Mrs Ng was sitting at one of the benches at the stairs talking to a teacher, so I quickly ran past her. Ram actually went INTO the staffroom!!! We were all shocked. It turned out that Mr Chan wasn't there, so we were about to take a cab when we saw this huge purple bus coming towards us and turning into the school gate. We then ran after it, me clutching my handphone in a desperate attempt to call Ram/Amandy. They had already gone off, so there were only 3 miserable souls on the bus with the bus driver and maybe a few phantoms. The debate was quite good. Like although the content wasn't very good with both teams, we put up such a good fight that Ram did not even know who would win before the results were announced. I am quite pleased with myself although we didn't win. Winning isn't everything. It's more of learning from the event and improving, as anyway we already expected that we were going to lose and actually had the courage to fight it, like Atticus. Maybe this would answer Mrs Ng's question. Shall stop digressing. Most of the debaters all had experience from Julia Gabriels and last year's competition, while this was the first competition by us! Like Julia Gabriels is such a "high-up" competition for the better debaters, and they actually went before! ACS was against RI, and SCGS against MGS. Rankings were such: ACS, SCGS, MGS, RI. I had expected RI to be first, but the unexpected does happen. The rest of the sec 2s stayed to watch ACS against RI, but I was too tired and came home. That's all for now. I am really feeling the fatigue mentally and physically now.a 6:03 PM Tuesday, April 26, 2005 Today's been both a good and bad day. Finally Chinese test's over! That's a really big burden off my shoulders. Anyway, Lao Shi was writing the names of those who didn't hand their work in, and my beautiful name did not even appear once! Well, I mistook Sheena's name for mine and nearly freaked out. Paranoia reigns. Because of the sheer relief after the Chinese test, I was rather hyper and that resulted in me being "suicidal". I was so bored when Mrs Ng was going through the trial that I somehow just put my head on my hands and stared at the ceiling. Then Mrs Ng was talking about rhetoric questions, and Irene had just asked me if it was rhetoric questions, and I said yes. Then I told Irene "Irene, let's scream." Mrs Ng happily trotted over and hollered "Jolene, you are very bored during my lessons right?" Of course I had enough sense not to answer, as it didn't matter what I said after all. I just said "you are bursting my eardrums..." Fortunately, she didn't hear me as she was screaming her ar*e off. I then continued in my quest of looking for flying pigs, and when Mrs Ng said something about having Bob Ewell as the president, I just started laughing. She then asked me "Why are you laughing?" Initially, I didn't know that it was directed at me as I always thought that I had mastered invisibility in her lessons, but Seraphina/Irene told me that she was talking about me, so I just looked up at the ceiling again. Mrs Ng then proclaimed that I am a horrible child. Interesting, isn't it? Mrs Ng then talked about social bounderies, and saying that no teacher goes hugging and saying Hi to students. We then shouted that Mrs Teo always does that. Well, Mrs Teo sure broke the social barriers between teachers and students. Right... That was the first lesson I was picked on. The teachers must be thinking that I enjoy being picked on. I was inevitably picked on during Chinese speech too. There must have been some special aura around me that went "Pick on me...". Nothing else unless you want to hear the series of unfortunate events that happened to me throughout the lesson. When we went back to class, we realised that Mrs Teo had written a LOVEly letter to us on the board. It read that she could not make it for our lesson, and wanted us to go to the library for self-study. We were cheering away, professing our deep love for Mrs Teo. While walking to the library, Xin Rong was behind and was saying that she loves the ABSENT Mrs Teo. I was saying that we should all send an email to Mrs Tieh, telling her that we were not in class and asking her to go to the library/class for further details. I understood the linear graphs, so I ended up being so bored and thus joining Pei Rong and Seraphina in doing some lateral thinking questions from a book they found in the library. Jia Min received the SMS that guzheng had achieved a Gold, and the whole class was quite happy. By the way, could we use Timmy the Toilet Roll for our class mascot? I was telling Xin Rong, and asking what was the connection between Healthy living and toilet paper. Xin Rong then said that it would prevent your ass from getting abrasion if you used top grade toilet paper, aka Timmy. Anyway, I shall go off to prepare for the debate tomorrow. I am freaking out! Mr Chan gave us 15 minutes off the lesson before lunch, which is Geography. Alleluia! 6:37 PM Monday, April 25, 2005 Today, Xin Rong was rather upset about Bernice and Bao Cheng littering the classroom floor. I got pretty uptight about it, and joined in the arguement. In the first place, I shouldn't have bothered, as it wasn't even my duty week, as Bernice and Bao Cheng both said. Secondly, I already have enough on my mind to worry about without taking into consideration the classroom cleanliness. Lastly, and most importantly, I did not realise that the rest of the class probably doesn't think the way I do, and treat the classroom as their second home, where they spend more than 6 hours a day. Maybe it was the upbringing in my home, or IJ Primary, where they used to tell us that it was our responsibility to take care of our classrooms as there were no duty rosters. With this, I apologise for what I said. Even though I wasn't rude, I think it was more of the content and the fact that I did not consider your points of view. From now on, please remind me whenever such an issue comes up again. Tell me that I am just a stupid busybody who creates trouble for myself and those around me, and I should just keep my bloody arse out of the subject, and wash my hands off it as it does not concern me as much as it concerns the rest of the class. Please do me this favour. 7:08 PM
Yanne, I shall respect your decision and take the relevant parts of that post out. I haven't neither done my art nor revised my Chinese, which I am certain of flunking given my grasp of that language. Well, is it my fault that I am not good at it? Today was a boring day, but when wasn't school boring? Everything is nothing but a routine. Science lessons always start with an energetic Ms Lye bursting into the classroom, and us answering in a chorus of GOOD MORNING MS LYE. Then halfway through the lesson, people would be left straggling behind, finally they would just stop listening and start exercising their chins very vigorously. I think I m not one of them, as I can't no matter how much I want to as I am right under Ms Lye's nose. And I wouldn't want to either, now that I realised that my Science is really lagging behind. Lao Shi didn't come today, so we had a FREE PERIOD. Of course, no one dared to step out of the classroom in case we met a certain teacher in the same cubicle as we were. We had to run 4 rounds for PE, but I sprained my ankle halfway, so I was just walking with Faus for most of the run. Then we played for a while, and started batting. My skills have improved! What an amazing discovery indeed... Class contact time was just so EXCITING! If you all still don't know, I was the one who said that we were out of class during PE, but why couldn't we have been out during Maths. So I am inflexible, and as dense as a wood block. What's new? Body combat was just stupid. I was asking Zeena what the point of doing it was, and Zeena said she didn't know anything except that we were doing it at SMU. I then asked her if a guy would just appear out of nowhere and attempt to rape us, so that we could use body combat on him. Dance was quite alright. By the way, 'Going under' is only 3 mins and 37 secs. Surely Lao Shi isn't as dense and inflexible as I am? Anyway, I shall do my Art and revise my Chinese now. 3:53 PM Saturday, April 23, 2005 I am getting very stressed out because of the looming prospect of meeting MGS at the quarter-finals. For some reason, Ram told us today that he was leaving some time in June. We were all rather saddened, but well... After the rest had gone off, I asked Ram when he would be leaving, and it turned out that it could well be after this competition. Stasia may be leaving too, and it's just a matter of time till she leaves as well. It's so sad, like this may actually be the last competition for me and Ram and Stasia and maybe Yanne. The very first as well as the last. I am just confused. And getting emotional, for some reason. Although I have only joined debates for just about 2 months, I have the passion for it. I could click to easily with it, unlike other CCAs. As the first opposition speaker of this debate, I will definitely try my best to make the best first impression possible to everyone, though it will be difficult with me being so socially inept. But I will try not to let you guys down. We will go to the finals. We will make Ram and the Seniors proud of us. We will make it a competition the whole debating team would remember. Enough of this dreary trash. Debates practices have been really memorable, especially the times when we joked and laughed till we all got stomach aches, though poor Ram was left standing at one side contemplating the thought of calling the mental hospital. Nun looked really cute today! And she had a mission, which was kindly bestowed on her by us. She was sent to flirt with Ram, and she sort of managed to do it. It was so funny! Anyway, why do I sound like a big airhead here? Chinese test coming up. I don't care about it. I only want to prepare as much as possible to get into the finals of the competition, and I don't care about anything else at the moment. This competition really means alot to me, and all the other debaters. Shall start researching on the topic now. Goodbye! 6:27 PM Friday, April 22, 2005 I just finished my lunch, and I am crying. Not because I am suffering from depression, but it's due to the chilli that was in the Laksa I just devoured. I literally gobbled my food down with hunger pangs in my stomach. Anyway, there was a really horrible traffic jam outside the Yio Chu Kang Stadium, and my parents lost their way there too. That is the action. The reaction is me running and nearly falling down into the stadium. And of course, the Sports' Meet had to start at 8. I reached there at 7.30, and nearly died of a cardiac arrest. Interesting, isn't it? The good news is that I wasn't the only one who was lost. Mrs Ng had happily called Eunice up to ask her if it was Chua Chu Kang or Yio Chu Kang. It is so amazing that she didn't go to Mediacorp instead, thinking it was Phua Chu Kang. I was just reading my book through half of the Sports' Meet, but Mrs Teo kindly ambushed me and took my book, using my receipt to bookmark it, then telling me I should enjoy myself before hugging me. I nearly screamed molest... Unfortunately, Mrs Tieh wasn't there to search for me... Talking about Mrs Tieh. I was telling Faus that she resembled a vsmvrt patient. I have to code that virus or some teacher that happily skips pass here would gladly make me go through the trauma and agony like that of one undergoing chemotherapy. Get it? Due to the intense boredom that I went through, I decided to help my Debates friends help their classmates who are going for the OM World Finals sell drinks to raise funds. I know the people who are going for the World Finals as well, so I thought I may just be a nice friend and help them. I was running around with Yanne selling drinks to teachers and students alike. My marketing skills really improved from last time I guess... We asked Mdm Mak and Mrs Chek too. Mrs Chek bought a drink, gave us $10 and told us to keep the change. The teachers were really supportive too. When the Sports' Meet ended, Timmy and I went to the MRT station together. We saw Mrs Ng on the way, as well as Xin Rong and Zeena. Xin Rong had kindly decided to bring her camera, and taken pictures of our teachers. I asked in PURE CURIOSITY whether she had a certain teacher's photo, and pointed at Mrs Ng. Xin Rong then called out "Mrs Ng! Mrs Ng!" I thought that Xin Rong was such a polite girl and wanted to say Hey sunnily to Mrs Dubose like what Scout did, but it turned out that we should not judge books by their covers. Xin Rong said that I wanted Mrs Ng's photograph, and I rebutted by saying that Xin Rong was insane and that it was Timmy that wanted it. Mrs Ng then asked if it was because we were afraid that she would vaporise during the weekend as Xin Rong had said that I wanted Mrs Ng's photo to adore through the weekend as I wouldn't be able to see her, resulting in me proclaiming that she was insane. Mrs Ng then said that it was not the time, as she was going for a haircut. Then Xin Rong and Zeena broke out in a "quarrel" as both did not know where to take the bus from. Xin Rong asked Zeena if the latter actually thought that she was a guide dog, and Zeena said yes. I was saying that Xin Rong would be the Saint Bernard, the angel in the cold. You know the dog that is said to save people who were stuck up snow mountains? Yeah... It turned out that Mrs Ng was taking the train too. So were Melesa and Karene. For some reason, the rest of them including Mrs Ng started talking about hair, and I was amazed as I never expected Mrs Ng to talk about such issues. She was saying that her own hair was very unmanageable, and that her hairdresser is very conservative. She also said that her own hair was very thin and wavy, not the typical Chinese girl hair that most hairdressers in Singapore are best at. Then she said that Timmy and my hair was nice, and suitable for the Kao Shampoo advertisements. Right... Astonishing, isn't it? It turned out that Mrs Ng was going to Novena, so we took the same train. The rest of us decided to stand, while Mrs Ng sat in the only seat that was available if I am not mistaken. The holy throne... Just kidding. I alighted with Timmy at Bishan, and saw Yimin, Irene, Vinette and Irene's senior too. We then headed to Junction 8. I went with them as my mum said that she could only meet me at 11.30. So I am just home. Shall go for my bathe now. 12:48 PM Thursday, April 21, 2005 I may be setting up another blog just on my feelings, but I don't think it would be too soon. I was just thinking, for no reason, that why can't adults dream? I have personally stopped dreaming as much I used to. It's just growing up, with the many "buts" and "whys" in your life, but I think it's just that when adults hear small kids saying that they aspire to be astronauts or ballerinas etc, these same adults who went through that phase of life before would say "that is impossible. How many people actually become astronauts? Less than 1%. What about ballerinas? What's so good about the arts? You can't earn that much money!" If you all had actually scrutinized your copies of To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, you would have seen that right at the beginning of the book, not the story I mean, she wrote that "Lawyers were once children too". I can't remember the exact words, but the meaning is there. Everyone once dreamt. But why do they stop dreaming after sometime? Is it because of growing up, or is it just humans ourselves, the way our brains are wired? Not that I know alot about neurology, but sometimes it just strikes me that it could well be the reason. Enough of this "intellectual" nonsense before you all whip out your handphones and call the mental hospital to pack me in a straight jacket off to Woodbridge. Some quizes here. ![]() the sad teen. Today's been a really bad day. Firstly, because of the free period issue and secondly, my tagboard's down for no apparent reason. I got really angry at what Mrs Ng said during PCCG as we already know it, and she's wasting our time by repeating it. Not that I agree with what she says, but it's quite true. Although she's really over-generalizing the whole class, I sometimes, ok, most of the time, over-generalize people too. The whole of Language Arts was spent on a Comprehension Timed Trial of which I am really confident of flunking. Science was quite good actually. I knew the answers to most of the questions Ms Lye asked, though I gave nonsensical answers to some of the questions. We had to present our dances to the "Chinese Dancers" and vice versa. There was a toilet roll DANCING! After Lunch, it was a free period as Ms Lee had gone for the CO's SYF. Melesa, Xue Ying, Karene and I decided to go to the Library to read. We told Lu Theng that we were going. Halfway through, Eunice came to look for us and told us that Mrs Tieh had told her to look for us and get us back to class. I nearly freaked out. I was told that her exact words were to "hunt those who were not in class down". I see that we are just animals in her eyes. Or maybe the Jews which the Nazis persecuted. After we returned to class, Mrs Tieh and Mrs Yeo came to the class. They talked to us about safety, that they are not scolding us but caring for us. I am amazed! Wouldn't they be happier if the press had come in and said that the teachers actually threw students off the building in anger? Isn't that why they are organizing the VERY INTRIGUING attempt to break the Guiness record by making the longest "popiah" line? Why not just throw us off the building? Anyway, shall stop digressing. At first, she said that she would get Mrs Ng down. But Mrs Ng was having lessons with 2/8, and the CONSIDERATE Mrs Tieh did not think about it! I guess she did in the end, but it shows how our school indulges in emotions. Just becuase she's the dean, just because she's angry, she can stop the lessons. I would really dread the day she becomes principal. But I think the school is more like the time when Henry Pu-yi ruled as emperor in the last dynasty of China. Mdm Mak is Henry, and Mrs Tieh/God-knows-who are the vicious/overpowering empress dowagers. Ignore what I say. I am just angry. Mrs Yeo had to say something to make herself look useful instead of just a woodblock blending into the wall, and so she just elaborated on Mrs Tieh's points and wasted all our time. She also told Qiu Ting to throw her food away. I mean, is there a problem with having food on the table? It does not mean that Qiu Ting was eating in class! Does it mean that if you have a knife on your desk, you killed the teacher? It's so ludicrous, the way the school's runned. I know that if any teacher happily comes by this blog, they would probably persecute me. But look closely. When did I ever mention the very honourable name of our school? I never did. So please get some evidence before persecuting me. Anyway, we had to see our HOL and Form Teacher as well as apologise to our Maths Teacher. We did all three. Mr Tan did not say much except that we are stupid to do that, and so did Mrs Ng, though she had to humuliate me, saying that baboons are the best at protecting their arses. I know I am being rather vulgar here, but honestly, since the school indulges so much in emotions, I am just having another outburst of anger here. Mrs Ng was telling us not to get into trouble, as it was only one day more to the end of the week, which is the Sports Meet tomorrow. I was reminded that Zeena had gotten the Gold Medal in Shot Putt, and happily told Zeena to throw the God-knows-what at Mrs Tieh. Mrs Ng narrowed her eyes at me upon hearing my imperial edict. When she said tha baboons knew the best how to protect their arses, I said that it was the point why I am not one! And it is true, though I suspect there is an inner meaning to what Mrs Ng said. Shall not say what I think it is, for the fear of being sent to the guillotine. Talking about death, Mrs Ng asked us all to be kamikaze pilots, and I was saying that we should all go crash into Mrs Tieh right now. Jia Min, Xin Rong and I went to see Ms Lee after the rest had gone off, and Jia Min officially went bonkers. She kept shaking Ms Lee's hand. Obviously Ms Lee fully agreed with us on the fact that Jia Min went nuts. We apologized on behalf of the people who were not in class, so don't worry. Ms Lee also said about the Germans admitting defeat in WW2, but the Japanese not admitting and the consequences. Mrs Ng also talked about WW2... I guess what Ms Lee said is that at least we admitted that we are wrong. Well... THANKS MS LEE FOR SAVING US! That is not sarcastic for God's sake... We scored 17 for our cleanliness! And the class owes us tons. Jia Min was praising Mrs Lee that her hairdo was very nice, and Mrs Lee was really flattered. That saved us as when Mrs Lee was bending down to look at how clean the floor was, Jia Min said that and Mrs Lee immediately stood up and started fingering her hair. So the class should bow down and worship us. Just kidding... Shall go off to do some research for next week's debate. Goodbye! 4:09 PM Wednesday, April 20, 2005 I just came home from the Debates competition. Shall keep you all in suspense, and only release the results later. I am so evil, ain't I? We changed our seats today. I am sitting at Qiu Ting's seat, and I don't really like it as I cannot relax that much during lessons. The new Pope was announced today, on the radio early in the morning. It's Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger if I am not mistaken. He's from Germany. Loads of people say that he is very conservative, but I think that is actually good. During Chinese, I was quite bored. We were doing idioms today, and I am an idiot at idioms, so well... Language Arts was quite alright, though Bernice switched the computer off halfway. I requested to sign up first, as I had to rehearse my speech with the other debaters. So I got Creative Writing. Sorry for those who didn't get what they want... I totally blanked out during Geography, and was just writing long essays of nonsense. I bet my head that I would fail. Science was quite boring. But at about 12 o'clock, the other debaters came to call me. I thought it was during lunch, thus I was shocked. The whole class was shocked too... I know I don't look like a debater, but is it that shocking? Anyway, thanks alot for your well wishes! We were super early for the competition, and started a little debate amongst ourselves, though I was neutral. Anyway, we won the debate against PLMGS, and lost the one against SCGS. Our coach was saying that the SCGS speakers were already in Julia Gabriels last year, and consoling us. Well, it's our first time speaking, so I guess it's quite alright... Though I am quite disappointed. But who cares about whether we won or lost? We shouldn't look back... We should only look forward to the QUARTER-FINALS WITH MGS NEXT WEEK! Ok... We got through to the next round. We were ranked 7 among about 18 schools. RI was first, followed by MGS, RGS, ACS(I), Catholic High, SCGS, us and Fairfield Methodist. I am seriously freaking out now. It's the semi-finals next week as well! That's if we actually get to the semi-finals... But debaters, remember the pact we made with RGS? That we would kill the other schools and meet in the finals. We can do it! Shall stop uttering nonsense and go for my dinner now. See ya! 7:14 PM Tuesday, April 19, 2005 I am currently freaking out as the Debates competition, my FIRST formal Debate, would be held tomorrow! And I will be doubling up, meaning speaking in both. I am getting really nervous... Today was quite good, especially the fact the we didn't have Language Arts! Well... I am thinking of wearing a hairband tomorrow, so laugh your heads off... During Assembly, there were two girls from 1/6 who went up to thank this mysterious person who had returned them their money box. After a while, the person still didn't go up and I got pretty irritated and went "Are we gonna wait till the sun sets for the person to go up?" and Mrs Ng was like "tsk tsk", then she told Melesa who was standing in front of me that Melesa had yellow polka-dots on her arm and nose. Christmas isn't here yet, but Melesa the Yellow-Nosed reindeer is out already. Timmy, you have a companion. Chinese was funny. We had to memorise the poems, though I only memorised the last one when the rest of the people were reading it out. I am more of an audio than a visual person, so I had problems memorising intially. Seraphina was trying in vain to memorise using actions, of which only made the class laugh even more. But it's a way of learning for the kinesthetic people, so we can't blame them right? I was about to go to the Science Lab when Ms Lye came in and told us that we didn't have Lab Session today. I was quite happy actually, as I was feeling on the abstract side today. I mean for the whole of last week and today. Drama was boring as we were supposed to discuss the Choral Night Performance, and some people evidently have to be in charge. Anyway, just an announcement. I wouldn't be performing with you guys... Wouldn't say why, but I am not going to perform with you all. After discussing, we played football with the gigantic purple ball, and I nearly hit the ceiling with it. Art was quite alright as we did not do painting! I was ready to shout Alleluia. We looked at various artists and their artwork, and Xin Rong and I were rather spooked out by one of the artists. Maths was quite fun actually. I spent the whole lesson drawing the graphs, and lamenting on the fact that I can never draw straight lines. My lines all kept slanting to one side, and I got so irritated that I gave up in the end. But Ms Lee said that it was ok. So I shan't be bothered by it. Yanne and I went to look for Mr Chan after school for the excuse letter as he had gone for a medical check-up before that. He told us that our seniors would be watching us, and my jaw nearly dropped to the floor. He also said that Mdm Mak was having a meeting, and thus hadn't signed the forms. So we have to see him again tomorrow. Perhaps I can skip the Cheering Session. Ram didn't come, so Stasia came instead. Halfway through, she said something about liking one of the points in my Rebuttals Sheet, and I was trying my best not to laugh. When Stasia went off, we started practising, and Nun was trying to distract the speakers by making all sorts of funny faces/noises. Anyway, I have to go now. See you! 6:16 PM Monday, April 18, 2005 I was debating with my mum on the way home about the Casino, and I won it! She was out of points halfway through the debate, and started digressing. Interesting, isn't it? As I had already predicted, the proposal has been approved. And I am against it. But what can I do right? Anyway, that's all. I m going for my bath now. See ya! 5:35 PM
I am in the computer lab at the moment with Hwee Yanne. We have just finished going through her speech and the Geography revision. So we are chilling out at the moment, after nearly being bored to death by the Geography notes. Well, I shall write about what happened today. Chinese was rather boring, except for the fact that Xue Ying, Jia Min and I made a parody of the poem "ru meng ling". I was asking them what constipated was in Madarin, and Xue Ying said it so loudly that Lao Shi heard us. That was why she asked me what she was doing. But it turned out that most of the class didn't know what was going on either. Interesting, isn't it? Mrs Ng was giving a sermon during Language Arts, and I got another of those bad headaches again. I was contemplating the thought of skipping PE, but I didn't have a letter so I just changed and thought of telling Ms Ong that I had a headache. When Jia Min and I finished changing, we saw Xin Rong and Bao Cheng talking to our dearest Language Arts teacher. We then went down and found out to our delight that Ms Ong was absent, and that we had a whole period free, excluding recess. Hearing the wondrous news, I went to tell Xin Rong and Bao Cheng as they were still talking to Mrs Ng. I used the whole one and a half hours to go to the library. I spent abt an hour in the library, and the other half running or just sitting around. The torturous one and a half hours finally passed with the melodious chiming of the bell, and I then went back to class. I was about to fill my water bottle when I saw this vaguely familiar creature clad in yellow and blue advancing towards me. You should know who it is right? So I had to be dehydrated for the whole of class contact time, though I was very tired after all that thinking during recess/PE and was just sleeping. By the way, I would like to apologize to Sars as I was rather pissed after talking to her in the library and just stormed off. Mass Dance was so AMUSING! No kidding... I was reminded of one of those comics/cartoons of people doing martial arts. And of all people, Faus and Zeena had to stand behind Xin Rong and I, thus making us suffer from a inferiority-complex due to our heights... But one good thing was that they could not hit us since they are so tall. Anyway, I was laughing and joking throughout the whole thing, and thus couldn't catch up with what the instructor was doing as we "couldn't see the damned guy". That is a quote from Zeena. ITE was quite alright, as I finally got used to Dreamweaver, and am already doing the 2nd page of the website as I had already finished the index page last week. Anyway, I shall go off to do my Dreamweaver assignment. Adieu! 3:59 PM Sunday, April 17, 2005 I really don't know what to write here, so the following paragraphs would be rather random and at times really weird and humourous. Yesterday, the other debaters all went back to school, and the bus 151 had to come so soon. So I was left with my coach, and he brought me to the NUS student lounge. On the way there, we were talking abt the school as well as IP programme. I told him that I didn't really approve of IP, but it was just that my parents wanted me to go. I also told him abt Mrs Ng's son's ambition to go to RI in P3, and my coach was like "Shit man. When I was P3, I didn't even know what secondary schools there were." It was so comical! Then he realised that he didn't bring his student card, and had to knock on the door for someone to open it. It was so cool inside! But the people there were like so much older than I am? Was rather intimidated... I m stressed out by the competition on Wednesday. But the Debaters have all agreed that we would thrash SCGS and PLMGS and get to the next round. We all agreed on the fact that our school's debaters are the best, and we would always be the best. Although it's only our first debate, we are already so united. I am really happy I am in this CCA instead of THAT CCA. Just now, I was telling Jia Min on MSN that I was rather envious of the MDers as they could still be so united in such a crisis. I think that is true unity. Sticking through thick and thin with each other. I wonder what would happen if it was the CO. I really wouldn't wish to think about it since it no longer concerns me a tad bit. But as I had already said, these are just random thoughts. The song that's playing now is "ci4 niao3" by FIR. It's from their new album, and the storyline behind this song is about a bird(I forgot which species) that sang only once in her life, and that was when she was dying. She would find a certain tree and choose the sharpest branch, piercing herself, then start singing, even outsinging the lark and nightingale. It's so touching, I nearly cried when I heard it. But that was on Thursday. It's like you do your best only when you are in pain, at the last moments of your life, when you think that there's nothing more for you to lose. Isn't life all about that? When you have reached this stage of peace or self-actualisation, and you no longer think that other's expectations are of anything to you that you can act at your best. I think this is a really good message to bear in mind for all those who have gone for SYF, or are going for it. As well as for all Debaters, although we all already know that we would all receive the results with pride, and nothing would extinguish the fire of our passion. One more thing. GO DEBATERS! WE ROCK, AND WE WOULD HOLD THE FLOOR LIKE ANY OTHER SCHOOL! WE WOULD THRASH ALL THE SCHOOLS THAT WE ARE GONNA DEBATE WITH, AND WE WOULD TAKE ALL OF THEM WITH THEIR PANTS DOWN. WE WOULD MAKE RAM, OUR SENIORS, THE SCHOOL AS WELL AS OURSELVES PROUD OF US. WE CAN AND WE WOULD DO IT! 6:17 PM Saturday, April 16, 2005 Alleluia. I am gonna be 3rd speaker in both debates on Wednesday. I am probably gonna crack up halfway through. There would be Geography test on Wednesday, and the GEOG REP can't possibly fail, can she? I wish I was History representative instead. Anyway, I bet I am gonna let my coach, my other speakers and myself down. I finally understand how what the MDers are going through. Although we just started working on the case yesterday, I am already freaking out. Maybe it's because I am too passionate about debates, and don't wanna let the rest of the people in the CCA down. This is so damned stressful. And I am going for both. What the hell's my coach up to?? Anyway, all the debaters that went for training today met up at KAP for lunch. The CO people including Mrs Ee were there, and I was painfully reminded of the "section lunches" that we had during the holidays. I was much happier having lunch with the debaters. We talked as a group, and not in pairs or individuals. Or course, I was just talking to myself. We went to NUS together, and were chatting all the way there. We went into the Writing room in the central library, and for some reason, I was so hyper today. So I was sort of dominating. Sorry to the rest. While we were 'prep-ing'(debates term) for the proposition's case, Yanne was already talking about the Opp case, and Ram immediately decided that she would be in Opp. But Yanne said that she didn't wanna be opp, and didn't wanna answer Ram when he asked. So I said that she was too intimidated by the SCGS debaters, and all the debaters started laughing. We were just laughing for practically the whole practice, especially when Yanne just went berserk and laughed non-stop. When Ram asked her what happened, she just laughed even more. Then she suddenly asked where the washroom was, and we all started staring at her as if she was insane. Well, I had better go prepare my rebuttals sheet. This is seriously freaking me out. 7:11 PM
This post is going to be rather depressing and somewhat philosophical, so for those who don't want to read it, please click on the cute little red box with the white 'X' at the top right hand side of the page. Somtimes, I just wish that my life could be an Internet Browser, like the one you are looking at. You can so easily minimize it and close the window. But in life, it's just an endless race, of which you probably wouldn't think you had achieved much when you are on your death bed. Just like SYF. When you are on your death bed, you probably wouldn't even remember what happened when you were in Sec 2, whether you get a Gold with Honours or a Bronze. These things just come and go in life. They are just part and parcel of life, and we should just be like the phoenix which rises even stronger from the ashes after each time it is reduced to a pile of dust. Could we all just stop this useless charade, of which no one would benefit from? It is getting really detrimental to the harmony of our class, and the people in it. If we want to do something, could we just do it as one, instead of a few people doing it? I know that I haven't been cooperative myself, but I am trying to do so. Just as I have said, the past few weeks have been turbulent, especially the one that had just passed. Maybe you all don't know, but my family and I are going through the worst trial which we have ever gone through. We are all really strained. You all probably don't know about it as I have still been doing rather well in my academics, for example, History. What you all don't know is that I never studied for any History test, and my assignments were done with my textbooks sleeping under my desk in school. What you all don't know is that I have been crying myself to sleep. Last night, I cracked down again. I couldn't sleep at 11.30, even though I was so tired after CIP, and after running home all the way from the bus stop outside my home. But last night was so different from the rest of the nights. Last night, I lost all my emotions. I was laughing and crying at the same time. I had grasped the issue of mind over matter, and because of that, I had to pay the price of losing all control over my emotions, be it euphoria or depression. For everything in life, there's a price to pay. This price I had to pay was really large, though I am happy that I have finally gotten out of the dark and gloomy tunnel. For the first night ever, I had not a single nightmare at all. That's indeed the price of mind over matter. You forget all the feelings in life. You can't feel as well as others can. I told myself that last night would be the very last night I would cry over such a matter. Then I went through all the events that happened, and it was all so surreal. That flight of stairs at Woodlands Primary was just so long, so steep. Our footsteps were echoing, and it was like there was no one else there. I started laughing. Maniacally laughing about how comical it was, how childish I had been to put my emotions first. Maybe I have gone insane. I told xr yesterday that I was going to have a nervous breakdown. I could feel it. And it came. I think I have really gone berserk. I no longer have control of my emotions. It's just like they have all gone with the wind. But like the phoenix, I think I have risen much stronger than before. The price to pay was indeed great, wasn't it? 9:11 AM Friday, April 15, 2005 I am pretty angry at the moment, but I have switched the music on my computer to full blast. Will state why I am angry later in the post. I am just trying to put my mind over matter, and not let my emotions take charge. It's hard, but I just have to learn to do it. I realise that I have been really childish, putting my emotions at a slightly higher priority than my thoughts. I know I can't carry on doing it, and I am trying to switch to putting my mind over matter. I want to grow up, I don't want to carry on being such an emotionally affected person. Maybe I have been too perfectionistic without realising it, thinking that everything has to go the way I expect it to go. This week's been really turbulent, the worst so far, even though there were no tests and what not. Academically, there weren't any tests. But there were so many tests I had to sit for regarding my life, my emotions, and I think they have really made me grow up, even though it's only been a week. I have rather given up on myself. I am disappointed that I am relying so much on my emotions. Well, mind over matter is indeed hard, but I can see it within my reach already. On to what happened today. PCCG/Language Arts We had to prepare for our CIP during PCCG, though we didn't do much. Mrs Ng set us all different tasks during Language Arts, and we had to do the one about the significance of Robert E. Lee. It turned out that I was right that he was the one who was with slavery, though I didn't want to say it as I thought it would be better to give others a chance, but it turned out that the whole group wanted me to do it. And Mrs Ng misunderstood me. Not that I care whether she cares about how I made a fool out of myself in class. Why does everyone think I am a perfectionist? I guess maybe I am. Back to the subject. It was because Irene was recounting what I said to them, and since she had gotten all the facts right, I wanted her to say it instead. Well, the world just keeps misunderstanding me. What can I do? We presented our Geography Project during recess. Pei Rong still can't find the map, so the written report would continue sleeping in my file. During Science, Mrs Chan came to our class to call for her GEOG REP. She just wanted to inform me that she had limited the test to just population, settlements and pressure systems. Science was pretty boring. Nothing more to add. Chinese was the same as Science. Boring... Maths was the same as Chinese and Science, though I was writing in our class' journal. CIP was next. It was rather enjoyable and funny when it first started with the skit and narration. Then Pei Rong, Zeena and I couldn't stand everything when we split up into groups and just stood at the side to chat. I was saying that I thought of the chair legs as prison cell bars. I felt very trapped and claustrophobic and kept repeating that I was having second thoughts about being a mother. Maybe I should just be a nun. Right. When the teacher came in to say that we had to go as he had to lock the room, Mrs Ng told us to move the furniture back as the teachers wanted to go home. I said "I want to go home too". I though she would just ignore what I say as she always does, but this time she looked at me with the yeah-right look. The students waved goodbye to her, and she waved back. I was laughing away at her expression. Not commenting on that. After CIP, we heard that MD had gotten a bronze. While we were going down the stairs, I asked xr what had happened, and xr said she didn't know either. I was asking her why they didn't get GWH, and then Mrs Ng turned around and said that the male teacher of MD said GWH wasn't everything in the world. I rebutted that by saying that they should at least know what went wrong and improve on it so that it wouldn't happen again next time. Mrs Ng then said "You are so embarrassing!" I went "Oh fine, sorry." I am not sure if she took me for being sarcastic, but I was just angry. I mean, what's wrong? I can't believe that she's so unsympathetic! Will elaborate on that later. I walked off rather fast, and xr and her caught up. Xr then said that maybe it was due to the enormous effort MD had put in that they were so upset. Mrs Ng then said rather rudely "So you think the rest of the world didn't work hard?" Like we hell didn't mean that. She's hell just assuming things. Fine. Mind over matter. She then said something about a leader in a crisis not doing what Felicia did, which was breaking down in front of others. But Felicia ran out to cry in the first place! Assumptions again. When we were on the bus, Xr and I wanted to clarify things with her but she came instead. I think she knew that I was pissed as I was speaking rather loudly and Shiru could even hear me. I guess I was wrong, ranking emotions before thoughts. Mrs Ng then went "A Nescafe addict?" and I went yeah... She then went to the back of the bus and said that Xr and the rest were very engaged. The conversation then took on a lighter tone. Xr said that she was very amazed with the 4 golden words that our dearest Language Arts teacher said. "You were very engaged". Won't talk about that. When we got down the bus, the rest of us there wanted to take a class photo, though some people were "missing". We asked Mrs Ng if she wanted to join us as it was a courtesy, but she declined. We then asked her if she could help us take the photo, and she just waved a 'no' at us. So much for class spirit. So many people just don't practise what they preach. Interesting, isn't it? Anyway, shall round off the post here. 6:35 PM Thursday, April 14, 2005 There's something wrong with my Internet at the moment, so please do not blame me if this post appears with weird symbols. This morning, Mrs Ng came and started staring at me with goldfish eyes, and I went "erm... Hi". She continued staring for a few more seconds before going "Hi!" merrily and walking off with a bright smile on her face. Really, is there something that funny with that face of mine? Maybe she was contemplating whether to send me to the mental hospital. Dramatic irony, isn't it? Language Arts was pretty alright, though I wasn't too satisfied with what Lay Kuan's group did. They did more of a character study than annotation, and interpreted some of the events wrongly. Well, maybe my expectations are too high. Mr Yam started IT lesson off with a congratulatory speech to all the Performing Arts CCAs which had already gone for SYF. That's all I guess, except that I couldn't get used to Dreamweaver. We had our OM presentation, and our structure was overweight! It had absorbed too much moisture in our classroom, thus it was 15.4g and held only 18kg as it was really weak with all the moisture and the whole structure was coming apart. Fortunately we were allowed to take our nomination's results. Our judges didn't seem too pleased with our performance though. They said that the material was quite good, but it was practically reading off. But do they expect us to memorise about 6 full minutes of rapping? It's rather impossible... We were criticized for our ENUNCIATION, when it's supposed to be a RAP. Interesting, isn't it? That teacher asked for our LANGUAGE ARTS and SPEECH teacher. Maybe you would see us having enunciation lessons with the 2 above teachers every recess. I jolly well hope we won't though. Chinese was boring for me. Please, do not throw rotten eggs exuding sulphur dioxide at me. Respect what others have to say. Doesn't that sound so familiar??? Maths was the same as Chinese. I just wished that the Debates workshop was today. Well, we can't have the best of both worlds... Anyway, the 5 of us were very uptight when we realised that we had to wear those tight, short miniskirts and yellow blazers for our competition next week. Great. Halfway through the debate, I may just exclaim that my skirt was splitting and turn into a banana split. Ms Lee took about 5 minutes of CME, and I think Lao Shi was quite irritated. As a result, we were held back for about 10 minutes. Thank you so much, Ms Lee. After school, we had to save our Geography Powerpoint in xr's zip disk, but for some reason, our class computers aren't working. Thus we went over to 2/2 to use their computers, as they had so kindly accepted our request to use the computers. We had to go for the Sports Meet Heats. We meaning xr, Eunice, Lu theng and myself. Sorry if I forgot anyone. Well, Eunice got 2nd in the 800m run! But she's upset that she missed the first girl by a little bit. Well... There were only 3 people in my Heats, and the other 2 people are from sports CCAs. So I was last by a teeny little bit, and I am rather upset. I was actually leading at the start, but fell behind as they charged up to the finishing line. How sad... Anyway, I am really tired and shall go off as it would be a long day tomorrow, with the Woodlands Primary kids running around, exercising their already powerful lungs. 9:41 PM Wednesday, April 13, 2005 I just came home from the workshop, and Jia Min has kindly informed me that I got a lovely 7 for History and I should rejoice about it as half of the class had unfortunately flunked it. I am amazed... I never knew I was so good at History. Or maybe Ms Koh forgot her spectacles when she was marking my script. The highest in class is 8. Miraculously, I passed with a 7. I am still feeling very euphoric that I passed it as I had blanked out during the test. So my average for the assignments and tests is 7 now. I should aim to get an 8 now... I am just so ambitious, ain't I? This morning, I went to the 2/1 classroom and saw that someone had switched the visualizer on and was playing Super Mario, so we all got to watch. That girl was really good. After assembly, I snuck off with Yina to see Mr Chan about the excuse letter. We couldn't find him even asking Mrs Lee, and thus went up to the staffroom. He wasn't there either, so we went back to the quadrangle. Then I saw him walking in the corridor, and shouted for Yina. We both went to see him, and he said he would get the forms and told us to wait. We went back to the quadrangle again, and when he came back, he passed me the forms and $65. I was shocked, but he reminded me that $50 was for the entrance fee, and the remaining $15 was for the Taxi fare, though I still need to return him $4.40 of change as we didn't spend that much money. We had Language Arts in the Language Lab, and it was rather fun as we were presenting. Mrs Ng said that our poem, which was practically all done by Xin Rong and myself, was good and we were giggling away. I did it until 11.45 on Monday, thus I thought it wouldn't be good as I was too tired. Well, unexpected events do happen. The class actually knew who was narrating at each point of the story. Interesting, isn't it? But at the end, the visualizer probably got too irritated by us and started banging its head on the table, thus we all started fussing over it. As a result, we didn't hear what Claire asked and got a horrible scolding. Thus we were all late for Chinese. Luckily Lao Shi didn't add on to the scolding. Well, we discussed some of the issues in the papers though I did not understand a thing. During Science practical lesson, I somehow just blanked out again and just started thinking too much, and thus didn't understand the "practical" and "logical" instructions on the paper. Maybe I was just floating off into my own fantasy world, but I really needed that break from this logical world that keeps pushing me under the water. Geography was pretty alright, except that halfway I blanked out again. I was in a trance for the whole day actually. Besides Language Arts of course. After Geography, I had to rush off already. The workshop was informative, but boring. I felt like sleeping halfway, and thus didn't participate that actively. At first we were paired up with PLMGS, but they switched it to RGS instead. Well... What can we do? We had some activities, then a mock debate, of which I failed really badly in my own terms. I performed really under my level. Maybe I think too highly of myself, but I was really stumped as we didn't have much time to discuss and my brain was squeezed dry from all the thinking already. Anyway, I have sent the whole class our Language Arts poem so that you all wouldn't keep pestering our group members for it. Well, I shall go off now. 7:46 PM Tuesday, April 12, 2005 We are going to RJC in two cabs tomorrow. And it would be absolutely free! The school would pay for it. I have to sneak off after assembly tomorrow to see Mr Chan for a copy of the excuse letter. He is going to give one to our FORM TEACHER, but I think I should give a copy to Ms Koh as it's just courtesy. It's sad that I have to miss History. I really love History now. Why do I sound so much like Hwee Yanne? I was in a bad mood throughout the whole day due to a problem which had arisen with the two Language Arts assignments, the presentation and the film review. I had to wait for about 2 hours for the people to go online, and when Xue Ying had to go off and I had to go for dinner at NINE last night, the rest happily decided to skip off to their homework. Did anyone stop to say "Oh yes, she's not my slave, she's also a 13-year-old like me, with the same amount of work"? Of course not... I am supposed to be Wonderwoman. But did they ever realise that Wonderwoman can collapse at times? Even Samson collapsed in the Bible. Superman fell and became crippled. I stayed up till 11.45PM to do the presentation, and all they said is "Oh. Thanks." Can I just slap you and say "Opps sorry"? Come on, have some humanity in your heart. I don't think it's fair to me. What would happen if it was you? Enough of that before my blood vessel bursts. I swear I would never work in that group ever again. Trust broken like a mirror, never to be pieced back. You should know who you are and don't approach me when I am still angry over the matter. Chinese was alright, just that I had been thinking of what was going on in my life and suddenly felt like crying. Well... I must be suffering from depression. But who would care right? Language Arts was quite bad. I felt that the entire discussion on parenting was directed to me for some reason. Mrs Ng posed the question to me first. Well, she had been talking to me about it and she knows what's going on in my family. I just wish I wouldn't be reminded of it everywhere I go, though I know it's impossible. I can't change others, I can only change myself. Maybe I should start banging my head against the wall in the hope of getting amnesia and losing calories as well. We had to do a mime for Chinese Speech, and I was amazed that Lao Shi didn't ask me to think about it again and repeat it in the next lesson. But as long as it doesn't require me to speak in Mandarin, I am pretty alright. I just checked my mail and my coach has moved me to 2nd speaker now. I wonder whether I should be happy or not as it's the 2nd speaker who does the reply speech most of the time. And my mom's asking me for help to explain some words but I just can't explain it at her level. I finally understand how our teachers feel. Art was quite alright as well, except for the obvious fact that my art is a really good piece of abstract art. Mrs Teo wouldn't accept abstract art of course, and I would definitely get a lovely RED F on my art work. I am so optimistic, ain't I? And Xin Rong and I had to be big-mouthed enough to go "beating is caring, scolding is loving", thus Mrs Teo decided to be really caring and gave us two smacks. It was still smarting at the end of the lesson... She cares alot for me. Interesting, isn't it? Just as I thought I had mastered invisibility in Art as well... What a pity. Maths wasn't too good, as we had to do GROUP WORK again. As I had already said, I am not pleased with the way group work is going about in our class. Thus, I shall be nice and not comment on it as if I did, you would all go crying to Mrs Ng, complaining about the "big bad wolf". I apologize to the whole class that I did not take part in the Long Jump event as I did not know that it was held at the other end of the field, and was sitting with the B division people, thus I missed the event till the 3rd jump. Obviously I was disqualified, and that's why I am apologizing. Two other people had been disqualified, but I guess I am just not fated to do Long Jump. I missed the event last year as well. I mixed it up for the B division event AGAIN. Well... It must be depression or something that I am in a whirlpool-like state nowadays. I have to go for dinner now. Sorry once more. 6:19 PM Monday, April 11, 2005 I am really starting to suspect that I am autistic. Note. It's AUTISTIC, not ARTISTIC. Maybe it's because I am cracking up under the stress. But I am making weird noises, talking to myself and staring out of the window, unaware of what's going on at times. It's pretty freaky. I read this article in the papers the other day about epilepsy, and one of the symtoms is losing conciousness of your surroundings. Today was pretty alright, except that this is probably going to be the best day of the week. And it's just ALRIGHT. I am really dreading the rest of the week... Assembly Shall elaborate on it, since it was unusual. Mrs Ng wore her blouse inside out, and if I am not mistaken, Mrs Heng and Ms Chi told her about it, thus she went off to change. The people at the back, aka Faustina, Sars, Meng Yuan, Melesa, Xue Ying and myself were laughing like maniacs. We had a short cheering session, of which Faustina and I didn't bother to waste our breaths on. Shall not elaborate on what we did before any councillor slaughters us. Science The lesson started late due to the *wonderful* cheering session. Sad, isn't it? And there are still spaceships flying around at the back of the class. The engines are probably spoilt or jammed up with a golf ball, as they are making a hell lot of noise. Flame my blog for all I care. I can't stand it anymore. Anyway, my blog's a boring blog. Get the alliteration? Chinese I was amazed when Lao Shi said that she gave those with a 'rounded' answer for the last question of the Comprehension full marks as I hadad gotten full marks for that question too, and everyone knows I am not a genius in the field of Chinese. Women are really walking paradoxes. PE I wasn't feeling too well, thus I didn't participate that actively. I was rather upset when Ms Ong switched Qiu Ting instead of me to the other team. I had gotten my hopes up as I thought she was pointing at me, but was so disappointed. The world is just so sad... Class Contact Time I had to use the washroom as the classroom was locked during recess, and I had left something I needed in there. You must be thinking what does anything in the classroom have to do with the washroom. Think again. There's Timmy, right? The first thing I did was sneak back into class, and Mrs Ng was already there. She spunned around and I was bracing myself for a scolding for being late when she asked "Why is there a breakaway in this cluster?" and I was so relieved, I just went "opps sorry" and moved my desk back. Xin Rong went "All the better to see you" and Mrs Ng said that she was very witty. Well... More fairytales of our class. When Jia Min, Seraphina and Irene volunteered, I told Xue Ying about the three little pigs and the big bad wolf. Decide for youself who the wolf is. Xue Ying said it was more like Goldilocks and the three bears, and Xin Rong just laughed. Mass Dance Someone must have hit me on the head during mass dance as I suddenly remembered that Chen Lao Shi had gone for SYF with the Chinese Dance Troupe. When Xin Rong and the rest heard this piece of joyous news, we all started cheering and laughing. I was jumping with glee when Mr Tan told us to settle down, and didn't give a hoot to what he said. Then Mrs Ng came, and went "Mr Tan's telling you to settle down, and why are you still prancing up and down?" But honestly, I prefered it when Lao Shi was teaching as we didn't need to do that dance so much. Xin Rong and I remained very unenthusiastic despite the teachers' close scrutiny. We unanimously agreed that it made us greatly misunderstood people. Decide for yourselves the factor. Dance I don't wish to comment on this, though I have already said that I welcome flamers anyway. But I just want to uphold the peace of the class. Ain't I noble? I guess that's all. We have to hand in our History Files tomorrow. I am probably going to write my eulogy now. 5:27 PM Saturday, April 09, 2005 I don't know what happened, but my post apparently got deleted. Well... I would try resurrecting my brain to remember what I wrote, but my posts are all about the same anyway. About yesterday. PCCG/Language Arts. We finally changed our places after an eternity. Xin Rong is really upset to sit with her cluster as she can't see what's on the board/OHP. But I am assuming that she is glad to finally sit far away from Mrs Ng. Am I right to assume that? For me, I am on cloud 99, now that I can get away from that seat. Myopia is getting on my nerves. Actually, I have perfect vision. Perhaps it's the distance, not my eyes. Or maybe I have cataracts, and it has nothing to do with myopia at all. I must be getting old... Rather I am maturing really quickly. How optimistic I can get... During recess, Ms Lye came and told us that we were to go for dance first. I gladly proclaimed that it was better to have dance first as it would be bitter before sweet. That is direct translation as my Mandarin is really atrocious, as you all already know. And so is my English, as a matter of fact. Xin Rong totally agreed with me, and she added on, saying that she would rather have 2 hours of Science, including lunch and skip Dance. Ms Lye thanked us, saying that she was very touched to have students like us. Well... I must say she ought to be. Same for the other teachers. Of course, if any teacher sees this, they would start banging their heads against the wall, and start walking together... Dance. As I had so accurately predicted, it was horrible, and I refuse to further comment on it. Ignorance is indeed bliss. Science. We drew the Dot-and-Cross diagram, and I drew some funny diagram that was totally wrong, and Xue Ying and I started laughing maniacally. But I can't stand the seating arrangement as I am facing the same problem as Xin Rong, and I am really distracted by the flying spaceships of paper at the back of the class. Xin Rong fortunately gets to turn her back on them, but I unfortunately can't... As I have already said, ignorance sure is bliss. Maths. I just realised that Maths is quite fun, apart from the quizes, which are a sure fail for me, and do nothing but make me detest the subject even more. We had an extra lesson after school with Ms Lee, and she praised me, saying that I improved by leaps and bounds. I nearly fainted upon hearing that... And Eunice was like "Ms Lee, what about me?" When Ms Lee went to get water in the middle of the lesson, I decided to sneak down to Popular to get some snacks. The rest got me to get snacks for them too. Sharon went with me, and we saw Ms Lee on the way and I told her that we were going to the washroom when we were clearly holding money. And she didn't suspect a thing. Amazing, isn't it? But we did go to the washroom, as I tripped on the stairs and Sharon tripped after seeing me fall, spilling Sheena's Milo on the stairs. So we had to use Timmy's brothers to wipe it up. Timmy must be really upset now... I guess that's all... Oh yes. I have just confirmed that ignorance is indeed bliss and I should shut my big fat mouth to save trouble. I emailed my debates coach about the debates competition/workshop coming up on the following 4 Wednesdays, as we needed an excuse letter, and now he wants me to see Mr Adrain Chan about it on Monday. I should really learn the skill of shutting up. 11:43 AM Thursday, April 07, 2005 I don't know what's going on in my life, but I am seriously sounding out the alarm bell now. Please, leave me alone. Stop talking to me about YOUR CCA. It no longer concerns me. I am not participating in the Festival of Arts. I am no longer to be associated with that CCA anymore. I have been in that nightmare for over a year, so please stop ripping my wounds open now that I have closed that chapter of my life. Somehow, I am feeling really depressed for no particular reason. All the nightmares that I have experienced in my life are replaying like this black and white movie. Perhaps it's the stress from that CCA, which I have already given up hope on. Ask yourselves. If you were in my shoes, if you have been deluding yourself for a year, telling yourself that you are enjoying yourself doing something you really know you don't like, how would you feel? Now that I have found a little sunshine from another CCA, must you come back and make my life just made up of darkness again? I am begging you, please leave me alone. Enough of that issue. As I have already said, the above two paragraphs are only directed to people from that CCA, especially those who frequent my blog or are from that section. I have never been with you all, and there's nothing to be done to change my perspective, as YOU were the ones who made me hate it. Anyway, today was pretty alright until I came home. During Chinese lesson, we finished up the short stories on Chapter 4. Nothing much to talk about... We are supposed to do some article/poem/God-knows-what for the International Friendship Day, and our group has chosen to do an English poem. It's really ludicrous, but we don't have any time to reconsider, since it is due on next Tuesday. I was feeling rather hyper during Language Arts, as I like the group I am with. Well, what's there to say? We haven't had much time to do anything as we were chatting and joking for the whole lesson as usual. Apologies to those who were perturbed by our noise pollution. Xin Rong and I both felt a wave of anguish sweep over us after we saw the Crazy Columns' Secondary Three's performance. We believe that we are miles ahead of them, and they do not deserve to go to the Nationals. But after all, they are Secondary Threes, aren't they? So even if their structure can't even take the crusher board, and ours can take all the weights available and not even crack, they are in and we are not. Where's the justice in the world? For some reason, I was rather bored during History. So there's nothing to say about it, except that I enjoyed the stories Ms Koh narrated. Maths was even worse, but we got wind that the Choir, which had its SYF today, had gotten a Gold with Honours. Bernice and I were speculating what the Chinese Orchestra would get when there was a scream outside our class which made all of us nearly die of a cardiac arrest. It turned out that the Choristers had come back to school and were announcing it to the whole school, but seemed to be announcing it to Antarctica too. CME. The teacher was rather angered by our group as we were just thinking up of stupid ideas to get out of doing CME. But actually, it isn't stupid. It's just that we are too ingenius for the teacher to understand. Anyway, I have to go for my piano lesson now. See you guys around! 5:30 PM Wednesday, April 06, 2005 I just heard a great important piece of news today! After all, the seniors did talk about me and listed me as an urgent issue during yesterday's sectionals according to Jia Ying! I am amazed that I am actually not invisible after all... Shouldn't I be honoured? Anyway, I am supposed to meet them tomorrow during the lunch break, but our group has so unfortunately not presented our Geography Project, and we may want to do it during lunch. I am currently still unsure of it, but I guess it should be either recess or lunch. Let's pray that the teachers do not have contact time tomorrow. I have just re-formatted my computer, and has thus embarked on the important mission of downloading all the files that were wiped out. How important right? Back to the day. Chinese was quite alright, as we spent the whole lesson doing the "story" on Chapter 4. Seraphina and I were somewhat angered by the fact that the rest of the group just continued discussing the whole thing and just rushed through it without asking for opinions until we reminded them. Rather until Seraphina told them. I must say that it was my fault that I didn't want to participate much, but unfortunately, as I have already said, I am currently thinking through some issues that are much more important than academic results and concern my future gravely. We finally finished Hero today. I nearly cried when the part on Broken Sword and Flying Snow were sparring and the consequences was on the screen. Somehow, I was just overwhelmed by my feelings, having recently been betrayed twice by someone I somewhat trusted. But my ego dried my tears up, though I was in a trance after the movie for quite sometime, and remained quite depressed for the whole day. I feel like crying again... Not that I am dwelling in self-pity or attention-seeking, but I somehow wish to be left alone for a time being to think through some issues I haven't been able to solve. Geography was rather boring, though I am pretty certain that this is the first quiz I am finally going to pass. The Geography Representative fails! It would certainly hit the headlines... Science was boring. Ms Lye has been repeating this DNA and RNA topic for such a long time, I got so bored that I started reading. But I got bored towards the end of the lesson and started using my Science file to hit my skull, which seemed hollow today. Ms Lye must have thought I needed the Mental Hospital. During Lunch, I was discussing with Zeena and, to a certain extent, Pei Rong, about our class and the school in general. It wasn't positive for sure, so I shall not put it up here and hurt all the poor girls' vulnerable feelings before they go crying for their 'momsies' or throwing tantrums. Isn't that what our schoolmates' are best at doing? We had the Inter-class Maths and Science quiz during Assembly. I was the reserve, and participated in the preliminary round, thus I got a trophy too. Not that I did much, but well... I thought that Xin Rong, Lay Kuan and Meng Yuan did a pretty good job. At least it would be surely better than what I can do. I made two new friends too. The 2/4 and 2/11 reserves. I started the conversation, and I am proud of that fact. The 2/11 reserve, Sarah if I am not wrong, asked whether I was a Maths or Science person, and I told her I was neither, I was more of a Linguistic person. Interesting isn't it? We got a bronze. It's at least better than not getting anything at all. So let's congratulate Xin Rong, Lay Kuan and Meng Yuan instead of blaming them for not getting the Gold alright? Anyway, they mixed up our trophies and promoted us to Secondary 4. But I was rather angered with the fact that Lay Kuan and Meng Yuan kept pushing the microphone to each other. Well, as I have already said, I am canterkerous these few days, as all of you would deem it to be. Anyway, I have to go for my dinner already. See you all around! 6:53 PM Tuesday, April 05, 2005 I just came home from CCA. Get this straight. It was debates, not the other CCA that isn't even worthy of my mention here. I do not regard that as my CCA anymore. A CCA is one that is supposed to allow you to learn and have fun at the same time. Can I say the same for that particular CCA? Ask yourselves. You should know the answer. Anyway, Debates was GREAT! Maybe I have never really enjoyed my CCA before. Correction. I have NEVER enjoyed THAT CCA before. That's why I am so easily appeased. I am not dwelling in self-pity, but I would just like to establish the fact that I do not like that particular CCA, for the amount of stress and unhappiness it caused me for about a year of my life. Let me go on to my substantive points. Joking... Today was pretty alright, except for the fact that I was feeling rather upset with some issues. Chinese was quite boring, as I couldn't see what was on the OHP, and had a really miserable time. Fortunately, there was no Language Arts today. Not that I don't like the subject, but I am trying to delude myself and everytime I see that particular teacher, it somehow reminds me of it as I am supposed to continue talking to her on that particular issue. Why do I keep saying 'particular' in particular? I know I am kidding myself, but haven't I been doing it for all my life so far? Less of those dreary issues. We couldn't find Ms Lye at first, so I accompanied Karene to the Science Staffroom to see if Ms Lye was there. In the end, we knew that Ms Lye was in the Biology Lab as we could hear her shouting from the second level. Amazing, isn't it? Drama was cool. When I stepped into the room, I saw Eunice fixing something into the ceiling, and went "Oh my goodness...". It turned out that Xin Rong hit the ball with her knee and a piece of the ceiling fell down. Mr Tang was surprisingly not angered at all. And I am so proud of myself that I came up with the headline "Chek the Can-can". Well... As I have already said, I am very easily appeased. Art was pretty alright as well, except for the fact that I can't paint well, and my dried leaf turned out to be pretty dreadful. Maybe I should tell Mrs Teo that it is actually a piece of abstract art. But I can only expect her to turn me into a piece of abstract art as well... Maths. I was troubled by that issue and spent the whole lesson thinking about it, though I still got the simultaneous equations concept. Ms Lee asked me to quit staring at the OHP and do the problem at a point of time. But I was actually thinking through that issue. By the way, my bad headaches are back, so I would apologize in advance if I actually offend you in some way or other. I shall go off and nurse my bad headache. Anyway, I am sure I won't be among the five to go for the Debates competition. Probably Amandas, Yina, Xin Rong, Wen Jia and Hwee Yanne/Jamie would go. But what can I do about it anyway? 7:02 PM Monday, April 04, 2005 I was listening to "when christmas comes to town", which is the soundtrack of Polar Express. Somehow I felt rather touched. The lyrics are rather meaningful, and I was inspired to write my MSN nick. I never believed in Santa after kindergarten 1. I was too disappointed after that, thus I lost hope in Santa. Today was a bad day for me. Our Chinese presentation was a total flop. I didn't have anything to say as the powerpoint had some error, and the pictures couldn't be viewed. What can I do? Language Arts was quite alright, as Xin Rong, Sars, Melesa and Lay Kuan were working with me. Our group's discussion was rather lively, thus it took my mind off some issues I had been pondering about during Chinese. The weather somehow manipulated my mood, and I was rather moody after PE. I partnered Xin Rong in the catching-tossing activity, and she threw it thrice into the plants in the quadrangle, thus I had to run out into the rain. But I enjoyed it. I wish I can get pneumonia and die. I just wanna stop the world and get off. As some of you already know, Mrs Ng spoke to me during recess. I refuse to divulge any information here as what we said is totally private and confidential. Class contact time was another half-an-hour-or-so to get me all upset from the thinking I was doing. As a result, I did not participate as actively as the class wants me to. I apologize, but I really couldn't control my emotions anymore, and I had to settle the storm that was going on inside me. I just received an SMS and email that I have debates practice tomorrow. It's a key practice, so I will NOT go for my Chinese Orchestra practice as I would only be sitting there reading away for two hours. My life is not to be wasted like this. Mass dance was the same old routine. The dance we learnt during LSC, and the nanzhongquan. That's what we do for a LIFESKILLS CAMP. How appropriately our school names a camp that we only dance and play and laze around. I am AMAZED at the sheer power of the school's vocabulary. We are having a selection for the Debates Under-14 competition held by the Debates Association and in conjunction with RJC. Great... It's held right next to my brother's school. No matter what, our coach would want us to watch it. I hope I won't see my brother there. By the way, we get to skip school, though it's a Wednesday, and we would only skip assembly and history. I am very HAPPY. Why couldn't it be a Tuesday, Thursday or Friday? I would be able to go off at about 1 if that is the case. The world is just so unfair, isn't it? ITE was pretty alright. I finished a button for my webpage. I am basing it on checkers, for those who are ignorant of that fact. I shall go off and stop being so moody and cantankerous. Goodbye. 3:45 PM Sunday, April 03, 2005 i just took some multiple intelligence tests with sars, and her intelligence is musical and interpersonal while mine is linguistic and intrapersonal. i cant print the maths wshts out at the moment as ivle is down AGAIN. there's something really wrong with the system. shall go off now. cya! 2:52 PM Saturday, April 02, 2005 pam, thanks for flaming my blog. it has been collecting cobwebs for a really long time. jiamin, are you saying that we did a good job or pam did a good job? Anyway, this week's been a really long and tiring one for me. i reached home at abt 10.30PM and nearly fainted in the washroom from sheer fatique. My legs were cramping up, and i was squashed in the MRT on the way home, and nearly fell on a couple of people who kept staring cautiously at me. We had gone to Yusof Ishak(sp?) Secondary School to watch our seniors debate in the preliminary(sp?) round of the Julia Gabriels. We won RGS hands down. Ms Karen Rowe was there. I was shocked when I saw her, but well... She sat next to me, and kept staring at the notes I took. Felt rather claustrophobic, like how I feel when any teacher especially Mrs Ng does it. Ms Rowe told me that she was training to be an adjudicator, and she had resigned as a teacher in our school. I was appalled, as I thought she was still teaching... Looks like I am really outdated in terms of the school's matters. After school It was almost as exciting as Thursday's, which was the fateful day we locked Timmy out of the classroom. I just went to Bernice's blog, and she has just unleashed an amazing fact that I am speaking in debate language. I never knew that, except that I keep going "define...". Maybe that's what people DEFINE debate language to be. But from my debates notes of which I read yesterday, it says that definition debates aren't the best debates around. We had to wait till 6 in the evening for the bus to leave the school, so Xinrong and I decided to do our work. She had brought her art materials, and I had brought my debates notes, thus we sat outside the English staffroom as there were fans there, unlike the benches outside the Lecture Theatre, which are poorly ventilated and are hot and humid. Her artwork was hilarious, and Jia Sin from 2/8 clearly agrees with me. Mrs Ng came by, as she had just finished watching Heros with 2/8, just before Jia Sin came. The former thought that Xinrong was doing the painting for recreational purposes, and I was laughing away. Mrs Ng also offered us some fruit, of which Xinrong and I politely declined. Xinrong told me afterwards that Mrs Ng may have wanted to give us poisoned apples, and I was like "The wicked witch of the West...". Then we recounted the great Project Work lessons we had to Jia Sin, taking turns to roleplay. Especially what Mrs Ng said about our mentor being lost. I was doing a bridge on the bench when Mr Tang came out of the staffroom, and I was like opps... He went "Why did you say opps? You can do anything you want!" So I went back into that position. Anyway, I shall go rest after the traumatic medical checkup this morning. It was really disgusting, and I shan't write it here as you would all lose your appetites if you read it. So I shall go off now. See you around! 4:56 PM
