To summarize today in a word: Sh*t.

Ok, that wasn't a word, but 3 alphabets and a symbol, but you get what I mean.

First thing I realised in the morning was -oh, joy- I'd forgotten to do my music homework! I'd happily left my delightful manuscript book to snooze off in my locker, and when Ollie's mom dropped us off this morning, our eardrums were tortured by the bloody flute orchestra, and that reminded me of the homework.

So I had to run up, hurry through my work, and still -gasp, gasp!- not finish it by the time school started. That being said, when did I actually finish my work before school started?

We're having this psychology presentation, and while the people who were presenting were setting up the computer, I took out my manuscript book, elated that I had a chance to do my work. My hopes were dashed as fast as the neurons of my teacher's brain picks up the motion of a fly and swats it (too bad, she's too vertically challenged to even get close to it) and she made me keep it even when the thing was LOADING.

Maths was alright, except I was intensely bored, and did rather badly on my test. Everyone was rejoicing that they'd beaten me.

Rushed through the music homework during recess. At this rate, I'm going to be anorexic.

Science, ironically, was rather interesting. We're doing the digestive system AGAIN, and thus, me being the known self-entertainer, drew a pile of dung with 2 cute little flies surrounding it below the anus and labelled it 'O'carroll', which is -surprise, surprise-, that vertically challenged Science teacher's name (I have her for psychology and Science, unfortunately. PITY ME.) My friend next to me said that I drew the pile too large: She's definitely much smaller. Anyway, that teacher was picking on me again. She probably recognizes me as 'the-girl-who-does-her-homework-when-the-ppt-is-loading'.

As we have a lousy lab for the practical lesson and the excellent one for the theory one, we decided to *reason* it out with this teacher. Unfortunately, her brain is as underdeveloped as her stature is, and she shouted at us 'I AM NOT GOING TO HAVE A GROUP OF YEAR 10 STUDENTS TELLING ME HOW TO RUN MY LESSON'. Oh... What's new? We're too unimportant to be in your sight. So we said 'hey, we're not trying to tell you what to do... We're LOGICALLY REASONING it out', but she merely ended the perfectly delightful *discussion* by bellowing 'THAT'S THE END OF IT'. But, knowing her size, she was probably too intimidated by our prescence to even think rationally.

Amazingly, she's married. The world must be coming to an end... To add to this, she's got a doctorate too. Wonder how she gave lectures to her lecturers when she can't even get her head above the table...

Music: The teacher praised me for my work. *snickers*

So I decided to vent my frustrations out on the piano (after all, it's not my piano) during lunch, and result was that yes, I got rid of all the extra energy bottled up. Sadly, my friend and I ended up late for the next lesson and got scolded.

English was thoroughly boring. Obviously, our teacher thinks watching 2 Romeo and Juliet plays by different directors is very entertaining.

Just now during dinner, for some reason, the small toenail of my right foot CAME OFF. Amazingly, it didn't hurt, but I'm blaming this on my mom. She's making us wear slippers in the house (those rubbery stuff so your feet don't get dirty) to spare the mite castles present in the carpet with the grooves of our slippers.

Also, the teachers have decided to squash all homework from the past few weeks into these 3 days. I've just completed my homework (this is a record), and it's already nearly 11PM. Ah well. I'm so exhausted, I slept during Economics today. Shall hop off to bed now.

Decided to reply to tags first.

Zeena: As in, it's dangerous to tag about that series *coughcough* here, for some teacher may be egoistic enough to search her own name... And it's sweltering hot here. I'm sure a temperature of 37 degrees is absolutely *divine*...
Jm: Haha... Go to http://cgers.blogspot.com for more info! Sadly, there's only chapter 1 up there at the moment...
Sars: I've already set it up. Go see it! When's OBS btw?
Sars/Yanne: How do you password protect stuff besides javascript (easily hacked into)?
Pam: Thanks! :)

Okok, I don't remember who I replied to last, but I think it was around there. Shall go off before my head flops like a dead turtle (warped analogy, but who cares? My brain's long gone to dreamland) on the keyboard.

Today was pretty good, of course, when in comparison to other days (like Tuesdays/Thursdays).

Something noteworthy in my timetable is that there is no ENGLISH, meaning no batty old witch to endure as well as no Romeo and Juliet to snore through.

Anyway, I went to the music studio during recess today with a friend, and of course, practised this new piece I was assigned. I was just finishing it when there was this click, and the door pushed open to reveal -cued gasps- a music teacher! I was stunned, and so was my friend, so I stopped halfway. Recovering from my shock, I then asked her if she was using the room (she knows me, I know her), and she said no, she just wanted to see what I was playing/who was playing it as the piece was really beautiful. So she stood there staring at my music score and me. Was rather awkward/frightening. She left shortly after though. Maybe she was just angry that I was increasing the amount of money they have to spend on maintaining the (already poor) condition of the pianos.

Yes! They're showing South Park on television now... Sera was grumbling about how Mediacorp hijacked Law and Order: SVU to show the Amazing Race instead. Mediacorp always hijacks good shows in exchange for rather lousy ones, especially (ironically) during the festive periods. Any festive period, regardless of Christmas, CNY, Thaipusam, Deepavali, there would be a Jackie Chan-related movie on television. CNY period, there were TWO. Yes, Mediacorp, I know you're making the money spent on broadcast rights worth it, but people get sick of movies that have been shown for zillions of times.

I pity those singaporeans who are Cablevision deprived. No offence to all loyal fans of Mediacorp though. Shall run off to play the piano.

8:31 PM

I'm suddenly inspired to write a post that's supposedly one day late.

Yesterday, my mom was rather lazy, thus resulting in us driving out to the Chinese restuarant located conveniently 5 minutes away for lunch. (Un)fortunately, there was only a big table left, and thus the 3 of us settled our huge butts on 3 of the 7 chairs available.

Halfway through the two gigantic plates of chicken rice, this threesome (rather elderly woman, middle aged one and small kid) came over and asked if they could share our table. Of course, we couldn't rudely shout 'NO. GET LOST' even if we wished to right?

So, they settled in, and while the two women were ah-sohing away, the small kid was happily entertaining our plate of vegetables by making a merry-go-round ride for it: Repeatedly spinning the circular thing in the middle of the table. The ahsohs obviously didn't notice it till we glared at them, and the middle-aged one then smacked the girl's hand.

Anyway, we carried on eating, and -surprise surprise- the women started ahsohing again. The small kid, clearly bored out of her dung brain, started kicking the table. Let me tell you, it is definitely unpleasant attempting to drink soup when it feels like there's an earthquake going on. The dumpy old women didn't bother about it, till their food came.

It was rather horrid, and I must say it was worse for my mom, for when she got home, she had to wash our soup-stained clothes. Not that she did it without any grumbles.

Ah well. If you guys have noticed, I've removed all traces of *that* series. Not that I've had hate mail, but just for the preservation of the position of my head. Also, there may be some *pleasant surprises* on that site... I've got a few plans going on already.

Oh yes. I've found this *extremely interesting* blog called 'The Chronic Gers of Nanyang'. The URL is http://cgers.blogspot.com. I don't suppose the author/authors would mind if you advertised their site for them, as for one, I wouldn't mind it either if any of you 'advertised' my blog. Please comment on that blog by emailing stuff to 'thegreatestwriters@gmail.com'!

Of course, go take a look at that blog. Sadly, the author(s) haven't had time to post any chapters beyond chapter 1... But it's definitely great entertainment. Hope they'll have time to post more chapters today...

Shall go off now. If any bits in this post sound confusing, drop me an email or tag/talk on msn. I'd prefer the former and latter. Tagging's rather dangerous.

Holy crap. When I typed 'Jolene of Nanyang' into Yahoo search, MY blog came up first on the whole bloody list, the title being *Jolene(nanyang)*. I nearly died of a cardiac arrest when I saw it, for I've been taking extremely careful precautions to prevent people from finding out anything about my identity (this post will be highly contradictory in this case then).

I then embarked on the tedious journey of checking through all my blogger information, but to no avail, I couldn't find a thing that even had my name in it. This is really spooky...

8:23 PM

I hate being at home. Hold it, allow me to elaborate before you get your rotten eggs out.

Firstly, being around them increases my chances of dying of a cardiac arrest/high blood pressure. For some reason, there is no way I can sit down and do something for 5 minutes before someone shouts 'Do this now' like that something would suddenly sprout legs and run out of the door and get abducted by spaceships outside. For goodness sake, teapots aren't like those in 'Beauty and the Beast', with legs and hands and witty remarks. They actually stay there, if you haven't realised.

Secondly, I already have dark eyebags (pigmentation or some bullsh*t). There's no need to attempt to make me insomniac by placing calls at ungodly hours of the morning (what more, on a weekend) and shouting at the top of your voice where to get fresh fruit and vegetables, what you had for dinner, what an idiot your daughter is for getting 2nd in class, that the flower pots in the garden smell of cat dung and so on, for I doubt the people on the other side of the line are deaf. Even if they are, I am not. I know you want me to lead a healthy lifestyle and have strictly 8 hours of sleep a day, become vegetarian, run around doing your errands aka exercise to you, shave my head and become a monk, but I need SLEEP. Thinking about it, maybe not, since I sleep in school all the time.

Also, the television already gives live commentaries (more specifically, winter olympics figure skating), thus there is no need for you to attempt to drown out the accompanying music with your words. If I were to choose between the music and your voice, it's rather obvious which I would choose, don't you think so?

Lastly, I hate to come home to your nagging. Every time I go cycling, before I can even lock my bike to the pillar, I can hear your melodious voices floating out of the door. As afore mentioned, you may think I'm deaf, so just to clarify things up, I am NOT deaf. And I don't fly out to supermarkets and return like I had just apparated there, grabbed something off the shelf, and apparated back with the snap of my fingers. I am also no olympian cyclist for your information, so I need TIME to buy stuff.

Long enough rant.

In a recent email, Xinrong said that Cindy Chng (previous 'sduuun' councillor) proudly proclaimed that 'The Chronicles of Narnia' inspired her. Wonder what she'll say about 'The Chronic Gers of Nany*ng'...

I suppose if anyone's crazy enough to log unto a search engine and search for the afore mentioned 'sduun' councillor's name, it'll spell my doom. I've had so many close brushes with death, and well... WHO CARES?!

Thanks for all the positive comments on Chapter 7... I've just realised that it's already Thursday, and I've still had no time to do anything about Chapter 8. Moreover, the teachers have decided to stunt our growth by slinging on tons of homework (see yesterday's post) and a test or two this week. And I haven't mentioned the reading of Romeo and Juliet with all the 'art thou(s)' and soppy romantic crap.

Yanne, 2005 (the first half of it anyway) was really enjoyable with debates and everything else. It was great to know you people in such a short time :).

Went out with Olivia today, and anyway, by the time we finished looking at stuff in the departmental store (we spent a long time in there), it was rather dark, and I had to cycle home. Fortunately, her dad's car was big enough to fit my nice shiny bike in there, and I didn't have to cycle back. Thanks Olivia!

I'm really tired, but I want to practice my piano before going to bed, though I still have to blow dry my hair. Damn. And apologies in advance if Chapter 8 is late.

Today's the first time I've run into trouble juggling my homework and computer and piano. A typical school day would finish with ZILCH homework, all done between lessons, and home would just be a time to go cycling, go on the computer, watch television and play the piano when I'm in the mood. Sadly, it all started off on a bad note (pun intended) during Music.

The teacher was unfortunately off to the Science Lab to stir his cauldron some unknown music excursion with some obscure people/ensemble in the school. Thus, we had my economics teacher come in to give us our work. Unfortunately, the melodious tune of the Australian Anthem (Advance Australia Fair) is as unheard of to me as the penguins in Antartica. And we had to write the melody out from MEMORY (my economics teacher obviously can't play the piano), but unfortunately, mine had just jumped off to play soccer for Tahiti. Result? Homework.

Then now I've just realised that I've had some mind map to complete for economics. Damn the bullsh*t.

Science: Finished. YES!

Maths: Here comes the rather unhappy part: I could have completed all my questions in class, but no, I decided to be a good Samaritian (sp?) and help this friend who had trouble unstanding the topic. As a result, I've 3 questions left to go.

Fortunately, there wasn't any homework for PE. Amazingly, I managed to do a header for soccer. Really proud of myself.

I'd better run off to do my homework, but there're more pressing issues in my life than homework though. As much as I loath the 8-letter H word, I'd hate a phone call to my mom even more. As a result, goodbye.

I'm home now as today, CCC is having its swimming carnival, and as you all know, I swim as well as a pig thrashing in water. What more, I'm having the monthly crimson curse women are 'blessed' with. Ironically, it's a blessing this month, since I didn't want to swim either.

Since I'm on this topic, it's suddenly struck me that the Bloody Baron in Harry Potter may actually have a reference to this monthy event... Perhaps Rowling didn't have this on her mind at that time, but there was a frightful German pilot called 'Baron von Richthofen' or something in the First World War, and he drove a red plane... Draw your own conclusions.

That aside, it's such joy to be feeling slightly sick (I always feel this way at this time of the month due to that low ribosugar thingum, like when I fainted, though I wasn't going through this at that time) and then getting to stay home. My mom's rather frightened after a couple of incidents when I fainted during this time of the month, so she let me stay home. *rejoices* What a glorious Monday morning/afternoon devoid of school...

I'm rather tempted to watch Dead Poet's Society again. Watched it on TV long, long ago, then bought the VCD. It's rather fantastic...

Alternatively, I could start working on Chapter 8 or a separate blog to chuck the whole series in there... The latter sounds more interesting, though I do not have adobe, which is rather regrettable. Ah well... Shall look around for ideas for the separate blog, then go play some Beethoven (feeling in the mood for it).

Shit I hate this computer in Aus. Firstly, the connection cuts off like there's a ghost who just pulled the plug off the modem at random times. Secondly, hotmail is screwed, especially when sending emails. Lastly, the Internet pages refuse to load at frequent intervals.

Weird... Maybe it's got a virus. That means that at the moment, I can only pray for hotmail to repair itself, then reply to Xinrong. Arrgh.

Shall go edit 'Chronic gers chapter 7'.

Irene: I have a sitemeter... (scroll right to the bottom of page)
Amandas: Hi! Haha... Against Dunman high?
Sera: Humph. Kidding! And I'm glad you relish your role.
Yanne: No thanks... And this is GOLD, not ORANGE.
Zeena: Thanks a lot... Really appreciate you asking/consoling :). I rather like orange too... And if I'd killed you, how come you can tag???
Yanne: Hey... Thanks too :). And it's good to have a little forehead exercise once in a while. Haha!
Irene: Eh... I actually like it, but anyway, I may change it soon. Sorry for this 'ghastly' thing!
Yanne: I did it manually... Yeah. Pathetic, I know.

Boohoo. I hate school... Nearly fell asleep many times. We're doing Romeo and Juliet in class now, and guess what? I had to read Romeo's part, and what more, it was the bloody KISSING SCENE. And Juliet was a... I really hate to say this, but she was a b*tch. As in, the person reading her part. *shudders*

Hmm... Wonder if Olivia's coming over later (that's if she doesn't have homework). I've finished all my homework in school! *evil laugh*

I'm hungry.

This is weird: Apparently, someone searched for 'Loh Lay Kuan' and my blog came up. I don't know why that person did it (maybe he's in love with her? After all, it's Valentine's Day) and whoever did it searched from a SCHOOL COMPUTER.

Right. I'd better put that search engine stopper again on this blog... Realised that I'd taken it off when some people grumbled about not being able to find my blog on search engines.

Anyway, just watched the figure skating section of the Torino Winter Games 2006. It was FANTASTIC. I liked Zhang Dan and Zhang Hao's performance, but sadly, Zhang Dan fell in a damned SPLIT in the first element throw. Everyone was like 'ohhhh...', and we were all cheering when she got in the rink again. Really brave... How many people can even STAND after landing in a SPLIT? Zhang Hao cried after the performance... They bagged the silver though. I'm pretty sure they'd have gotten the gold (instead of the Russian couple Tatiana and Maxim [names too long to remember]) if she didn't fall. What a pity...

Something noteworthy is that China bagged the 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions. Russia followed tightly on 5th, and I can't remember the rest... I think USA was in 7th (the couple who was the first to do a triple axle). Some John Baldwin and Rena (something).

And I just realised that whoever searched for Lay Kuan's name searched it at an ungodly hour of 7.42PM... Maybe it's some boarder at NUS(H)? But well, I hate 'educational-related' people poking around in my blog... Gives me a horrible feeling of deja vu (sec 1).

Disjointed blog post again.

9:44 PM

My Johari Window!

Do me a favour, and do that johari thingum. I don't care if you write that I'm a silly, self-concious idiot. Just do it (like Nike says). And well, I may wait till at least 5 people do it before I post Chapter seven. Muahahaha...

I'm tired... Shall go off to watch television. And what more, we were supposed to have some community mass today. I just told a white lie and told my parents that they had to go too, and they wrote a letter saying that I couldn't make it. That's called knowing how to push one's buttons. HAHA!

5:44 PM

Sunday, February 12, 2006

I just realised how bad for one's heart it is to watch Law and Order (be it SVU or Criminal Intent or God-knows-what) alone at home. Merely an ordinary bang of a car door will make you jump and hit your head on the roof.

As much as I love Law and Order, it's really bad for my heart on these occassions. My parents are out socializing AGAIN. We just had lunch at some friend's place today, and they're out socializing at night. My brother's stuck in the bathroom ventilator or something (I personally don't give a damn. I'm sure you don't too, but it'll be funny to see his head stuck up the ventilator) and so here I am, watching the TV at the same time and blogging.

I really like the SVU episode though. Really touching... It's about paedophiles (winks at Eunice)...

Yeah yeah, I shall be stuck with a bunch of paedophiles (synonym of teachers) in school tomorrow. Actually, maybe not paedophiles, since they're smart enough to get behind the law and do stuff for a long time before they're caught. You don't get paedophiles who do it for one day and get caught most of the time, do you? Hmm... Maybe that's an example of those in my school. I rather like my music teacher though he's rather weird (the Einstein weird). He recognizes me... Says hi to me every time. Don't think dirty: He's already an old man: about 50 years old. I don't go for guys older than me (at least not that old) for Heaven's sake.

And speaking about husbands, my piano teacher's somewhat like Ng, though maybe she's the Russian version. She was talking about comparing stuff (apparently she knows about how unhappy I am here: Probably from her own experience) and said something about her being depressed if she were to compare herself with a model (perfectly true... She'd have been pretty 20 years ago, but now...) and that why should she bother since she only wants her husband to think she's beautiful? Freaky... Ng told me that before too.

Shitty. Music performance tomorrow... We've to do solos (informal performance) and it was on Thursday, but dragged on to tomorrow. When I got back to school (4 days late. YES!), they'd already had about 4 days to think about it. So I just picked one of my old exam pieces and repractised it. No time to get another piece, which is sad.

And today's the 15th day of the Lunar New Year, but what did we just have for dinner? KFC, and some fish we caught from yesterday. I suppose it's better than what happened on Wednesday (or was it Tuesday?) when we had the leftover meat which was really inedible (too cold) and had to wait till about 10 for dinner. Parents went for some seminar.

Went fishing yesterday, and I caught the most fish, amazingly. Me, who rather hates fishing (too boring), caught the biggest and the most! Brother got a few pufferfish. HAHAHAHAHAHA. That was mean.

It's 10.05PM, and there's school tomorrow. Shall stay on for a little while longer, then shower and go to bed.

Dear Mum,

Sometimes, I wish you would listen to what I have to say, or how I feel and think. I wish you would care about me instead of thinking of what is practical, which is what I hate. With each decision you force me to press myself into, you unwittingly pull me away from who I really am and what I really love. Your insults push me deeper into a bottomless pit of darkness of which I can never find the edge of again. You expect too much: Just too much for me to show who I am. I hate it when you always ask me to 'think' and 'reflect', for at times, you ought to listen to your own advice too.

You may think that I'm lazy, stupid and disrespectful, but have you ever tried understanding why I feel and act this way? No, you only care for the many certificates and report cards with the plentiful 'A's and awards. You see me as a medal you can carry around your neck around your friends, gleaming in the sun in pride and glory, but at home, you toss me away in a corner and abuse me with your neglect. I lie, unpolished and unattended at the bottom of the huge pile made up of grades, books, depression and society's needs: The very same pile you threw on me; made up of YOUR needs. I know you may think that this is the best for me, but have you ever found out what I've really liked?

Maybe you should stop in your murderous tracks and pull the knife you embeded in my back out and question the motives of my many actions, the many clues that I hate this life that I'm leading. Sometimes I have the impulsive wish to tear up the many certificates, awards and report cards that I've garnered for you all these years for these merely show the paper churning machine you've turned me into. With every achievement I bring home, I kill a part of myself, in a slow torturous way. But no matter how loud I shout, you never hear me. How I wished you would realise what you were doing. Each time I see other parents asking their children what they wanted, it inevitably brings tears to my eyes for I know that you would never ask that of me, as hard as I might pray to a God who never was there for me.

Please free me from your merciless grip for I wish to fly away on my own wings, yet I'm being restrained by all your needs for high quality toilet paper designed with the gold-printed word 'awards'. With each 'no' you say to my questions, you make the real me stand even smaller and further away than she already is. I beg of you, allow 'me' to return. Banish this machine away: Pull the plug out, tear the copper wires apart, unbolt the many screws which keep me incarcerated within.

Please, I beseech of you.

Signed,

Your brainless, disobedient machine.

HAHAHAHAHAHA... I'm the 2046th visitor to my blog. How very uncanny.

Tsktsk... People've been coming to my blog (from the US) for 'One flew over the cuckoo's nest' homework help. I could give the help, but I don't wish to. Too bad, you should enjoy the book yourself. And now I'm tempted to put the 'anti-search engine' code on my blog to bar myself from these *flicks hand* unimportant people. Kidding!

And I've changed my tagboard to a cbox due to the increasing complaints on my part and many other individuals' parts that my tagboard has been down almost all the time. Although this cbox looks a little... Aesthetically unpleasing, I merely wanted a contrast (sure is big) between the colours to remind people to tag. You all would probably go off with huge migraines and tag for your medical bills though. Humph.

Shall go off to bed now. I'm dead tired.

I've been rather unwell since Saturday due to the somewhat unpleasant flight (the plane felt like it was about to crash during the landing due to bad weather and head winds) and thus haven't been able to update.

On Saturday, I felt like there was this boa constrictor coiled around my ribs and each time I drank something, the snake would tighten its grip around my lungs, causing everything that had just gone in to come out again. Felt much better on Sunday though.

Shall reply to tags.

Yanne: Haha! I'm sure you weren't thinking about what I told you... More like it was *coughYCYcough*
Krost: It's a satire/parody. Btw, who are you? (hope you aren't some nosey teacher)
Faus: Yeah... I didn't really like her though. Made us donate tons of money for the school we didn't get to enjoy.
Pam: I BEAT YOU. *evil laugh* How much did you all bet?
Peirong: Boohoo. I'm jealous. And see the question I asked Pam.
Zeena: I'm back in Perth already. And I think I can watch Brokeback here. TOO BAD!
Yanne: Be glad I didn't pick up any rocks nearby to throw at her...
Ollie: Same to you! (15 days of the CNY, so I'm still rather -cough- early)
Faus: Same to you too! But I'm sure you spent the whole of CNY doing SIA proposals and God-knows-what...
Yanne: No I didn't, but I'm sure you looked for YCY.
Jiaying: Thanks.
Zeena: *faints* And my teachers remembered me too. It's hard to forget troublemakers in the class yeah?
Bao: Thanks, and please tell me if Zeena gets PoTC 2 tees in future. Haha!

Finally. Realised that I've had to reply the whole tagboard spare 2 tags. Woah. And speaking of CGON(chronic gers of Nanyang), I'll put up chapter 6 as soon as gmail works on my comp (had to send them over from the sing comp), so let's cross our fingers and hope it's soon. Yeah. It just worked. Woohoo!

Shall go off to tweak Chapter 6 here and there, then post it.
