I must say I'm in quite a pleasant mood at the moment...

I TOPPED MY CLASS IN HISTORY. MEANING THE WHOLE LEVEL BECAUSE THERE'S ONLY ONE HISTORY CLASS.

Muahahaha... Just had to boost my ego.

I really was quite surprised. The teacher said the top mark was 17, and I immediately thought of this really talkative girl who won the scholarship last year (meaning the school gave her 3k to study at the school, though she had to fork out the remaining 10k odd) got it. So I was just like 'shit...' because the teacher said it wasn't very well done, and anyone getting above 12 should be happy. And my paper was like 3rd last, so I was really nervous. Turned out I did relatively well, though I could have gotten at least 18.5 if I had read the last ques correctly :(. That's what the teacher said too.

Was kind of pissed when we got back our physics tests back the lesson right before that though. I mean, I got about 12 marks above the avg, but the $^&*(()) new teacher DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO MARK PAPERS. She gave my friend 2 marks for the same mistake I made, another friend 0.5 for the SAME MISTAKE, and me? 1 mark. So she gave the break down of the marks being that the object at the right spot and right height 2 mark, and the 2 rays 2 marks. Now, anyone looking at the last statement and who's in a right state of mind would logically give a mark each for each ray. She didn't. I got the first 2 right. And so she only gave me 2 marks in the end. I was like wtfcfcbbq! Another mark would have gotten me closer to my 80% (missed by 4%). So I got 38/50. The class didn't do too well, though it was the best out of the 3 classes. Highest was 44/50. Avg? 26.something. I know I shouldn't be lamenting since I got one of the highest in the class... But THE FRIGGING TEACHER IS A CHEM TEACHER AND DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL SHE'S DOING.

And she had the AUDACITY AND CHEEK TO SAY THAT SHE TAUGHT PHYSICS FOR 10 YEARS. That shouldn't be too bad right? Except that she taught that 13 YEARS AGO. YES, THIRTEEN. Tell me if I should be pissed when I'm paying $14k a year to get such a crap teacher. She is so RUSTY on her stuff, and she DARES say so. Urrgh.

Chem test: got it yesterday. Missed the top mark by 4 marks :(. 33/40, and thus, top mark was 37. Avg was about 29/40, so yes, I'm above avg again, so I should just shut up and be pleased.

Lit hasn't come back, had the introductory calculus test today (which was really quite easy, it being an investigation and thus being similar to the assignment). So I guess all the tests have been quite good, except the GEOM AND TRIG ONE. I only got a measly 57% as I'd mentioned (27/48)? Kind of disappointing. Makes me want to quit it, but I can't take any other subject along that time slot.

Shit. I'm becoming so marks-orientated. Probably because I really wanna beat my brother at something, and spit in his face after all the years he's been laughing over that measly 6 marks in the PSLE.

Such crap aside, we get a long break from Friday to Tues (meaning school starts again on Tues)! Friday's a mid-term break, while Monday's Labour day here, so yeah :). And Natan, if you're reading this, DAY LIGHT SAVINGS ENDS ON THE 3RD OF MARCH! Yes! An 'hour later' to get to school. Doesn't really make sense, since well... The clocks go back to being the same as in Sg!

Oh yes, I did promise pics of my cookies? Here they are :):

1st batch, which were kind of burnt (I ended up giving them to my Aussie friend):

The 2nd batch, which turned out so good, out of the 17 humungous ones I made (too lazy to make them smaller), 4 were gone by the next morning! (made them in the evening)

Sadly, none while I was making those. Didn't want to get distracted.

And I did think I promised some pics of the fishing trip we had. Here they are!

Poor lonely crab...

Shrimp: Kind of small. Notice the little ikan bilis in there? I'm proud to say I caught those. And a prawn alone :). The rest were caught with the gestapo.

The infamous octopus that was blind because the gestapo spotted it while we were going home, and he adamantly pursued it till it landed in his net. Poor thing... I felt really sorry for it...

Though I must admit, it was delicious with Kikoman's special soya sauce :).

That's all! Hope it was a nice change from the usual dreary rants.

Rant ahead; LEAVE IF YOU LOOK UPON IT WITH DISDAIN

My brother started uni last Monday. And guess how many days he's been to school? 3 so far. And no, it wasn't because of CNY hols that he got 3 days off. He's SICK. Meaning he's as useful as a porcupine with a bunch of morons stuck up its arse (I should stop the porcupine jokes).

He just sits around coughing and whining and being an 'AUNTIE'. Let me justify my stance. He's down with a cough, is whining about his cough, and is thus bored and watching CHINESE DRAMA SERIALS. Yes, those with the weird dresscodes, martial arts, typical corny romance and horrid animation.

I wouldn't mind if he didn't bother me. Instead, when I am making FULL USE OF MY TIME (aka studying/baking new year cookies/actually doing something remotely constructive), he DOESN'T WANT TO LEND A HAND EVEN WHEN I ASK HIM. For example, we just moved the comp in the hall into the study. I've had to pass wires up and down the metre high table all BY MYSELF, and when I asked him to help... Predictably, he was TOO SICK. And ironically, on top of his TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE ILLNESS, he's been able to take the heat and radiation emitting off the computer screen. Someone tell me if the world's going to porcupines with morons stuck up their arses.

Anyway, I did mention baking new year cookies. Yes, they were SUCCESSFUL (glares at people sniggering). They actually taste quite good (the peanut-ish things), and were quite easy to make. There's only about half left, after my parents and I gobbled them up (I made them on Saturday). Too bad the porcupine can't eat it with its dreadful cough *sniggers*.

On a lighter note, I passed my chem test! And did above avg... 33/40. Highest was 37/40, avg was 29 or 30. So I'm quite pleased with myself, though disappointed, because I screwed the MCQ up (6/10 ONLY!!! I nvr get below 8 most of the time). The short ans was good though (27/30), though I could have easily gotten full marks (lost the marks to stupid things like not LABELLING THE AXIS OF A GRAPH).

Ohoh, there was a storm during History today. We were in the Library using the comps, and LIGHTNING ACTUALLY STRUCK OUR SCHOOL. The comps (according to some people who were there while I was scouting for books in the shelves) started glowing green (E.T.... I am E.T...), and some people were screaming their heads off. It was quite funny because we found out after that that a rival girls school (like RG and NY) also got hit directly by lightning, and THEIR SCHOOL CAUGHT FIRE. HAHAHAHAHA. Sorry, needed to satisfy my sadistic need. I think it was quite mild though. Natan, it's MLC.

Other than that, school was quite boring. The physics test was relatively fair (meaning nothing too hard, nothing too easy), so it was ok.

Got to go. Stupid porcupine's been forcing Mum to cook NUTRITIOUS meals, so we have rice and seaweed and beef in soy sauce tonight. Better than the porridge we'd been having over the past 2 days.

I got a measly 27/48 for my maths test. Yes, it's a pass, as most of you optimists would suggest. But guess what? The highest mark is 45/48. Which is about 40% more than what I got. At this rate I'm going, I'm heading for the teacher's foot (kicked out of class).

And it's 6% of the final mark. I need at least a C grade (which is about 60-65%) to stay in the class. So I need to do exceptionally well for the rest of my tests to get that mark. Shit.

Just been really busy and stressed out. I feel obliged to do really well because of the astronomical amount my parents are paying for my school fees (it's about 7 times the non-eesis ny school fees). Yes, that much.

Physics test on Monday, another maths test on Wednesday (different maths. It's calculus. The other was geom and trig). Just had geom and trig, lit ass (lit donkey/rear end. Up to your interpretation) and chem test this week. Maths ass due on Wednesday too.

As such, I'm stuffed. So terribly tired.

In any case people still don't know what sui iuris means, it just means 'of one's own right', as the pop up so neatly states.

CNY. Hmm... Not much of a diff here. No hols on Monday, a whole heap of tests next week, assignments due, nothing of the usual comfort. Which, I must admit, is quite depressing, given how we used to have such a big 'hoo-haa' in Singapore.

Got my Maths test back, which we did yesterday. I did think I would fail (it was an assignment + test thing to see what you learnt from the assignment yada yada), but I was so pleasantly surprised that I passed by 32%. Got 41/50 for my assignment (which was quite disappointing...), and 23/28 for the test. That was really good :).

The test was seriously frigging difficult. The whole class thought we would fail, but most of us actually did quite well. I could feel myself go white when I looked through the paper. Felt faint, dizzy, like my lips were camouflaging into the paper...

So it really was a pleasing result, though I dearly wanted the full marks in the assignment, but lost that few marks due to horrid diagrams and working. I would have gotten 91% if that were the case... Most people got really high (meaning 47+) for the assignment, but lost out on the test. So I was quite disappointed... Fine, this is really contradicting.

My maths teacher seemed quite pleased with me. Firstly, I'm new, I need to settle into the school, blahblah... And yet I beat about half the class (which has only 15 people, btw). And we were doing surds today, so she was like 'root 5 multiplied by root 36. What is the ans? Chop chop!' And before she said the last chop, I practically shouted '180!' out, which surprised the rest of the class. Everyone was just like 'wth... I had just started looking at the ques'. No idea what happened to me. Must have been possessed by one of the maths teachers.

The rest of the week has seriously been boring. For hist, we're doing SEC 1 'HOW TO ANSWER A SOURCE BASED QUESTION', which no one had done before in the school. *faints* Physics is easy... So's chem. Introductory calc (the other maths is geometry and trig) is revision (parabolas, quadratics), and lit is... Interesting. We're doing short stories, which gets quite boring, but my teacher actually is quite good.

I wanna take music! Not history! But there's the stupid timetable crap again. Sigh...

Oh shit. I was supposed to call my friend.

My piano teacher just called. She can't take me for lessons this year because she's got 4 full days of teaching at schools.

I felt like crying when she told me that, and still do feel like crying. To be honest, I can't imagine taking piano with any other teacher except her, which is why it hurts so much. She didn't really just go 'oh sorry. I can't take you. Go find another teacher' like any one else would. At least she found me a good and nice teacher (according to her standards).

I don't feel like continuing piano though. Maybe taking this year off will do me good, since last year's results are still very painful, and I'm changing teachers anyway. But well... Cerberus wants me to finish my grade 8 this year because of the important year ahead (TEE: uni entrance exams next year). This means that I don't have a choice but to continue.

Maybe I'll take it in the school. That's more convenient. All the same, I think I'll call up this lady and ask about the details too. Or maybe I'll just rebel and obstinately refuse to go for piano lessons.

I don't know how I should feel... Anguished? Disappointed? Sad? Even happy? Fine... Screw the latter. I've never had a piano teacher as good as her. NEVER. It's contradictory because I've never gotten such low marks, but it's a different feeling when I play the piano now. My technique's better, I'm no longer 'forced' to play... In short, I've never been this inspired.

And now the rug's been pulled from under my feet.

School's started. Don't know whether it's a good thing or not. I'm too busy to be bored now, but it sucks to be too busy.

Orientation was on Sunday. I got a nice form teacher, so yeah... So she was like 'oh, tomorrow you will come to this room first thing in the morning. Tomorrow...' And I was nudging my mum and going 'tomorrow?'. We all thought school started on Wednesday, you see. Thus, at the stairs (mum just found such a *fitting* time), mum was like 'doesn't school start on Wednesday?' And the teacher stared at us and went 'no, it starts tomorrow'. I felt like tumbling down the stairs.

Monday was quite boring. Heaps of talks and the first lesson of the year had to be this extremely dry History lesson. Tuesday was better... Though Assembly was quite boring. The teachers all gave their usual 'start of the year' speeches on how 'this year is a very important year. You must do all your homework, and start on a clean slate yada yada', and how you're 'superior' beings for taking their subjects.

Wednesday? Physics was highly boring. The whole class (including me) apparently did the stuff 2 years ago, and the teacher acted like no one had done it before. I mean, the only complaints I have are against History and Physics. History might change because well, we're doing the facts now and the thinking hopefully later. Physics: The teacher is DREADFULLY SOFT AND BORING. I mean, he might be quite a good teacher, but he makes my brain wander so far beyond the classroom, it can't hear him (due to his volume).

I like the geometry and trig teacher though. She's this nice old lady who cares about everyone in the class. Which incidentally isn't a huge number (15, if you like being precise).

Thursday was the full day thing I guess... Today? I felt like sleeping, even though there was double lit. Lit's quite good, though the class is a little too huge for my liking, and there are a few people who hog airtime. The teacher isn't bad... But she seems quite empathetic to whether you keep up or not, unlike the other teachers. That's probably because from what I heard, everyone in the class is smart. Which was demonstrated during the analysis of a story we got yesterday and today anyway. Really unlike CCC, which is such a good thing.

I mean, in CCC, some morons (ok, over generalisation, but I know of quite a huge moron) get to take lit even if they can't even spell properly (meaning spell with the right letters, and spell the word 'properly'). It gets on my nerves seeing such people drag the whole class behind. I mean, my teacher wasn't too pleased that she had to plow through like 4 page essays from me, but oh well... And with a little threatening, that certain moron got his subjects even though he failed half his maths tests. Quite stupid, wouldn't you agree?

I'm so tired...
