Blowing in the wind Bob Dylan

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

That's been playing in my head since I read about the guy who shot 32 people at the Virginia University. Some part of me actually sympathises with him. Let me explain before you try to shove pocupines up my rearend.

Firstly, understand his context. His family emigrated to America in search of a better life. They were poor, ran a tiny shop, and probably struggled through and lived their days from hand to mouth. He goes to school, white snobs laugh at him for his colour, maybe his unglamorous clothes and unfashionable hairdo. He tries to say he can't help it, but no one cares. The cultural differences are too vast for them to even look over the superficial matters.

Well, he thinks, that's what a first class education in the supposed best country creates; little Frankensteins. He dreams of death, ending all the suffering and torment he and his friends suffer. But he can't. Not yet.

Why am I even trying to write a STORY on his 'thoughts'?! I'm strange. Haha.

So yeah... I sympathise with him. At least it's not too bad in 2007 Aussieland, where the Asian predecessors have proven that we Asians are actually intelligent and not to be messed around with. And my parents actually came here with more than a few suitcases of clothes and a pocketful of money. Not that we came here in search of a better education *colossal snort*.

Quite sad. The only part that infuriates me is how he likens himself to a martyr, to Jesus Christ. The pure audacity of doing that... Jesus said to love thy enemies as thy neighbour. He did none of that. He KILLED 32 PEOPLE. I pity his neighbour.

I actually sympathise with him more than the 32 victims though. Maybe it's because I feel that I can see myself in him. *shrugs* Don't worry, I'm not going to randomly pick 32 of my school mates that I hate and shoot them when school reopens. I'm not that crazy. Yet.

Speaking of school, it reopens next Thurs. And I haven't even vaguely gotten past the introduction of my physics assignment on how refrigerators work (sh*t, they just WORK OK. Must be cosmic powers...). Oh, thanks Zeena for the idea! At least I've more or less done my introductory calculus assignment (though I need some help with a few ques... *looks around*), and the geom & trig one isn't due till a month's time (and I've engaged the help of a friend from the previous school, though he's away on hols). Lit? Finished Wuthering Heights, so I'm considering it done for the moment. History... Reading the textbook counts right? I'm worried about chem. Haven't even started revision, and limiting reagents is quite worrying...

Okok, shall stop ranting.
