Passion of the Christ just finished airing on television. Yes, general television. I really think they shouldn't have showed it on television... Firstly, it was rather gruesome and unfit for the tender eyes of the young children and secondly, it was rather exaggerated at points. I think the second point needs some elaboration. The floggings, which were highly bloody and violent (believe me, if this comes from me, it must be pretty incredible), were much unecessary in this case. I personally think the main point that's supposed to get across is how Jesus died because of His love for us, but in this case, was spoilt by all the floggings and what-nots. Yes, I admit, Jesus suffered terribly, but it's not necessary to induce shocked gasps and exclamations from the audience to distract them from the main 'theme'. As you all will see at the bottom of the post, it's already close to midnight. I guess that's because the tele broadcasters had to put it late so that young innocent kids would be safe in dreamland, and will thus not be scarred for life. Obviously, as you guys also know, my attention span isn't very much especially when I'm reasonably tired and thus, I did not really pay attention to the movie, resulting in my coming online about an hour ago. Main reason why I didn't exactly bother was because I have the VCD at home ($7.95 at HMV. I bought it personally, despite its rating). Anyway, because of the terrific line up of television shows (6pm till now), I have failed to go for a bath. As such, I'd better go before I end up with pneumonia or bronchitis tomorrow morning. 11:39 PM
